Question 08 GS will not start

Got an 08 GS that simply will not start. New battery, solenoid, starter and relays. All connectio s have been checked. Turn key on display screen flashes safety message, press button to acknowledge then press starter button. Get one click out of solenoid and computer resets display screen. Local dealer has been totally no help. Anyone had this problem and what caused it? BTW battery is kept on trickle charge so low battery or bad connections are not the problem.

I'm not sure about that, but you do have to depress the brake pedal on the SE5's in order for them to start.

Its a manual and its in Neutral. Do not have to press brake pedal for it to start.

Try it with the clutch pulled in, also check all of the battery and ground connections. If that doesn't work verify the battery is good by putting a multi-meter on it and watching the voltage when you hit the starter button. You could verify starter working by jumping across the starter solenoid.

Jumped out solenoid to verify starter was working and make sure no issues with motor turning over. All worked properly except ECM not telling it to fire. Same reason the bike cant be push started. Possible ECM issue???

Cant see anything with voltage at starter due to how quickly the solenoid cuts out.

Sounds like a junk battery to me. I'd do like mentioned with the volt meter on the battery terminals when you hit the starter. I'll bet you see a massive drop.

I had the exact same thing on my 2008 GS
tried jumping it to the RV battery. still would not start
everything would boot up but when I pushed the start button I would get one click and computer would start to boot up again
I checked all connections twice and still the same thing
put in new battery and rechecked all connections for the third time and it finally was fixed
The dynamic power steering uses a lot of battery power so if everything is not good and tight the battery can not start the bike
I did jump the starter and it did start
it drove me crazy for a while
so something is still loose in your connections
    good luck
