    Default Need suggestions

I'm looking for routes and sightseeing suggestions for Sept.

In Sept-Oct, I'm doing a big round-robin tour to the NorCal rally, the Red Rocks rally and then the Texas Hill Country rally. I'm taking US 50 from central Kansas to Sacramento and then going to the NorCal event. Then, on the way to Red Rocks I want to see Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia and Death Valley national parks. Here's my idea:
    • From Tuolumne on 108 and US 395 to the east side of Yosemite. Then 120 back to the west side and do the Yosemite Valley. This will be about 3-4 days. If time is an issue, I'll just go directly to Yosemite Valley first.
    • Hwys 41, 180 and 108 to Kings Canyon & Sequoia.
    • Cut east through the Sequoia National Forrest and go into Death Valley NP from the west on hwy 190. I'd want to spend at least a couple days there is conditions permit. There's lots to see in Death Valley NP but a couple things can't be reached on a Spyder (like the Racetrack). I'll be there 2-4 weeks before their real season starts and I'm afraid it'll be too hot. If I can find a tour company to take me to the places I want to go, I'd consider that for at least part of the experience.
    • Any extra time I have I'll waste away in Vegas, maybe.

What are your ideas? What's the best way to see Death Valley?

Make sure you get reservations for hotels in advance especially on US 50 through Nevada. Towns are few and far between. Carry lots of water and some snacks just in case. Wave as you ryde through Dayton, NV or let me know if you are getting a meal nearby and I will come out to meet you.

Sounds like a beautiful trip. Have only been to Death Valley--in an air conditioned car. When in/near Vegas, make sure you do Zion, Valley of Fire, and Red Rocks State Parks. Cedar Breaks and Bryce Canyon are also beautiful.

There's are difference between a long road trip and hot one. Went to Amboy, CA in the summertime once and found out how fast heat can funk your brain up...

    Not a wimp out!

Went through there here once by motorcycle and I thought that my skin was going to melt. It felt like I had entered a blast oven. I did not enjoy that expereance one bit.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll not do Death Valley until I can be out there in the winter sometime.
