    Default Coolant gelling???

So, I've noticed my spyder has been running a little hotter than normal lately. Not too hot just a bit hotter. So, I go to check the coolant. It's at the normal level. I go purchase some coolant from a local BPR dealer, thinking I'll have some on hand... And maybe add a bit ...bring it up half way to the MAX line. The dealer tells me that I can't mix the "new" pink coolant with the older green coolant that is already in the engine. He says it will gel. Has anyone heard of this as factual??? Or, is this dealer blowing smoke? Thanks, Dave

After doing a quick GOOGLE search the answer is... do not mix. Just get some Green Antifreeze and keep on riding with a smile.

Dealer is 100% correct................... DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT COLOR ANTIFREEZE's FROM BRP..................... That's the reason they are different colors, they will coagulate and gum up your system.

Best bet is to use one Antifreeze in your system, if you change to another brand or type, be sure to flush your old stuff out with clean water twice before refilling with another brand or type. This is not to say that some different ones won't work together, but why risk it???

You are correct, they made them different colors for a reason.

Are you changing the coolant every two years as the owners manual maintenance schedule calls for?

Your dealer actually is correct this time. Don't mix a cocktail in your cooling system.
