Problem with 2012 RT SE5 -
Spyder has 12k miles. Has been running great. Had it up on a lift yesterday, putting on a a Smoothspyder belt tensioner / guard.
Played with some wiring, but did not connect anything. It has a low gas tank with about one bar showing.
When I took it down off the lift and started it up, the screen said check engine. Engine idled at 1700 bounching up to 2200 RPM instead of the steady 1400 RPM it used to idle at. No power when reving.
Turned engine off. Turned back on and it ran fine for about 1 hr. Stopped for lunch, It started up just fine.
Today I go out, and check engine light is back, and will not change after several tries over about 1 hour.
Anybody got any Ideas.?

Retrieve the codes, that will help. While it is running and showing Check Engine push the SET, MODE, and TURN SIGNAL cancel buttons at the same time. Active codes will show on the dash screen. Let us know what they are.

if it didn't go back to check engine he wouldn't be able to check for codes anyway.

He said the check engine light came back on. So I was hoping to get the code.

Check for loose battery cables.

Curious. ....
Did you run her in gear with the wheels off the ground while installing the tensioner..?? I know RT's don't like that.. also check fluid levels and make sure the wires you moved did not come loose at the plug...

Thanks for the comments
No - while playing with some wiring, didn,t touch the battery.
Didn't run the bike while working on the belt tensionner, or when it was on the lift.
Will check codes if it happens again.
Stuff like this eats at me. Got up in the middle of the night and started the bike. Started like a champ.
Gremlins ... maybe ?
I watched a video on lifting bike. Placed the lift under front peg area on frame. When off the ground (I always use jack stands), but before I position the jack stands, the bike is balancing, and not rock steady - like it is balancing on one point, rather than the two rails on the ATV jack. Is this common, or don.t I have the jack forward enough?

If you have a smart phone you can get the "spyder codes" app and all will be revealed.
