I just paid $1071....I think you got a good deal. My parts alone were over $500 with 5 hours of labor.
Also my plug snapped. But with the cover in place myself and the dealer thought it was a stripped plug.
It wasn't until the cover came off that you could see the plug was in 2 pieces.
So either the dealer torqued the crap out of it or the plug was faulty.
I'm thinking a faulty plug cause I would think the threads would strip b4 the plug would snap in 2 but who knows.

my dimple plug broke in half right at the magnet end inside, I think some of them might be defects have to wait and see if anyone else has the same problem. I went back to the OEM plug.

That is the same spot my dimple plug broke.
I spoke with Richard with dimple plugs and he insists the plug was over torqued which caused the break.
I am also back to using the stock plug.

It sounds like Dimple plugs might have a weakness if over torqued. The problem is that many people are not going to be careful enough while torqueing or their torque wrench might be off adjustment enough for this to happen.

The 'fix' appears worse than the symptom.

I have not had a problem with the stock plugs and I do a lot of oil changes for folks. Just lucky I guess, I'll have a bugger of one this weekend now that I have said this.

when I put mine in had my wrench set at 15 Lbs and it loosened up as soon as it got snug, (or I thought it loosened but it was broken) never reached 15 lbs so it wasn`t over torqued

I was going to ask you who put them in for you as soon as I got home tonight and you already answered my question.
The dealer put my dimple in at 3000 mile service. When another dealer did the clutch cover repair they installed the factory plug. I even told them I have another dimple in the glove box. After the fact I'm so glad they used the factory plug.
Now I'm kinda scared with the dimple that is still in use in my Spyder. Not worried now cause it's not leaking but worried when time comes to take it out.

And I've got my set of Dimple plugs sitting in my desk; waiting for the oil change at the end of this Month.
Should I just tell the Technician to be sure and NOT over-tighten them?

After reading this thread I would ask Dimple if they will cover the repairs if they break, If not, ask if you can return them.

    Default DIMPLE VS. GOLD PLUG

Is it possible that the problem MAY BE the magnet that Dimple is using is so large it's compromising the strength of the thread area on the plug....... The GOLD brand also has magnets, but they look slightly smaller .......but it could be an illusion .....jsu a thought........................Mike

    Mike,
    Now you've done it!
    You've unleashed my comedic mind

Powerful magnets: could this be causing a tear in the Space-Time Continuum?

Robert before they DRILL the hole for that magnet ....that plug is EXTREMELY strong ...... After they drill that HOLE maybe not so much ....depending on how large the HOLE is ........or is this beyond your paygrade so to speak ..... Mike

I have been wrenching on my cars, bikes and mowers for 30 years, from brakes to plugs to alternator replacements and everything in between, never owned a torque wrench and wouldn't know how to use one, just tighten the nut or bolt until it feels right, never lost one yet

Sounds like a combo installation error and possible faulty party. Has anyone had the same issue with the Gold Plugs?

Yes. 2 of them so far but I did not (and will not) install them. I only removed them to discover the dreadful problem. One I got out, the other was stuck good and went to the dealer and eventually an engine tear down.
