I love my F3 s but.......

I am finding more enjoyment in my F3 than in any other ride I have owned and that's been plenty. I installed a Madstad Wimdshield and it is awesome. I get no wind buffeting behind the shield. However, what I do get is a lot of buffeting in my arms and shoulders. It is windy in Iowa and maybe I'll have to live with it. Does any one else struggle with this and is there a solution?

Madstad made me a windshield 2" wider on either side that I like for the cooler weather. I'll be using it alot more this year to see how the wind buffeting is. I was planning on having a summer and winter windshield. Easy to change from one to another.

Talk to Mike at Baker Wings. They have wind wings for their Slingshot
that fits on their F4 w/s. I have them on my F4 and helps a lot.

Maybe it is just that I feel the side wind more on the F3 than I did on two wheels.

about Madstad. After I purchased their windshield for the F3, they changed the mounting brackets to "A much better design". What they came up with looked like a bridge beam off of the Golden Gate bridge. Raised the windshield up 2" into my view. Told me that if I don't like it, send the whole windshield back. Sorry company.

It took 5 mins. to drill new holes to put shield back to original height with new bracket. The new bracket is a good improvement.

Yes, I and others also have and still struggle with a solution: many many hours and $ spent on my part and I am still experimenting. Just search F3 forum "windshield," and you'll see numerous threads/posts and what has and has not worked for many F3 owners. Buffeting wind to body at highway speeds, for me, is tiring and distracting - maxing me out at 1 hour before a pit stop is needed. I am 5' 8" with 30" inseam.

I have purchased three windshields from three different manufacturers - multiple mounting locations(some DIY)/heights/angles. Some can be seen in my photo gallery.

IMHO - the challenge all centers around cruiser rider position (upright, low in the saddle). In my case the challenge is even greater because I choose to ride with a windshield I can see over.

Two of my brothers have 2 wheeled cruisers (I've only owned sport and touring motorcycles) and both wanted full wind protection - their only solution is a TALL and WIDE windshield that they see thru - bottom of windshield is mounted right behind handlebars - closer to rider. They are both very comfortable with this arrangement.

Yes, I love riding my F3 and have adapted my riding to it: backroads (time and location permitting), more frequent pitstops. Yet to find the perfect motorcycle, for me, but the F3 is the closest out of the 14 I've owned (including 2008 Spyder) and the F3 is the only one I haven't been able to come up with a satisfactory windshield solution both in function and looks - YET.

I presently am using CalSi tinted shorty windshield: no wind buffeting to head, with full wind and buffeting (at highway speeds) to body.

Best of luck with your windshield adventure - there are windshields offered by: BRP, CalSci, F4 customs, Gustaffson and Madstad, that I know of: may be others.

I did that on my own. No help from them. The reason that the windshield is still on my is that I really like it. Their big downfall was the customer service s***s. They make a good product, just no people skills (customer service).
The next thing that I have to figure out is how to get their name off of it.

The 2015 F3 XL XWide CalSci shield with mounts included, eliminates your side wind/shoulder buffeting & wind noise.

The F3 CalSci shield is about same width size of a RT Spyder shield; depending on how tall you are, determines height of XWide shield height needed, 22", 23.5" or 25" high.
(I built DIY Aluminum side mounts for my XL Wide F3 CalSci shield (which moves shield closer to Rider at about same position/wind protection as RT Spyder shield).
I have a 2015 F3S with a CalSci 25" high XL XWide shield for excellent wind protection, no wind noise, no buffeting, I am 6' tall,!!!!
(I had terrible experience with the Madstad F3 shield that just directed wind blast at helmet but No wind protection, & terrible buffeting/wind noise).
(I lost $70 in shipping cost, but sent it back & got credit for Madstad shield).
Enjoy your F3 Spyder, they are great fun!
The key to F3 CalSci shield working so well is the XL XWide width of shield at top, which eliminates wind buffeting/noise.

Hummm, don't get it, I have the Blue Ridge with the x-creen. Perfect protection for me. Maybe the problem is for taller riders.

F4 Customs offers 3 different heights of windshields all made from high optics polycarbonate with their proprietary scratch resistant coating. We also offer the air wings for above the mirrors that are great for directing the air either around you or toward you. Here Is a video that might help.

I added the F4 lower wings and the Slingshot Baker wings to my new braced (must be the new F4 mounts) F4. I extended the Bakers using Lowes Optix acrylic clear cut to size with a utility knife and a metal straight edge. Holes drilled with a forstner bit and then bent by heating with a heat gun using the same straight edge. Best improvement for the audio unit to date.
