    Default It finally broke.

I have been watching the crack grow since last fall. The crack was about 1/3rd of the way. Went on the 330 mile ride this past Thursday. Saturday morning Justin and I (my son) was heading out, so that Justin could practice riding a bike. He just got his license. Went about a half a mile, my windshield fell against the dash. Turned around and put the Spyder in the garage. removed the windshield and bracket support. Continued on our ride. I missed the windshield. We still had a great ride. Bruce

What year is your Spyder? This had been an issue in the past and one workaround was to not ride with the windshield in the lowest position. Unfortunately BRP does not sell the bracket alone you have to buy the whole shebang but there are some here who fashioned their own brackets. I found that duct tape and a bungee worked fine when mine failed on my 2010 RT. I was lucky to get the repair covered under extended warranty.

Thank you both for the replies. My Spyder is a 2011. I still have warranty. So it will cost me $50.00. The dealer has my replacement motor on hand. Again, thanks. Bruce

It's a design feature by BRP, with the windshield laid back you get better gas mileage. You may need to clean your shorts when it happens. BRP doesn't care.

Who is Noboot? I tried Googling them with no success. However I now have a new list of several things to try if my laptop or smartphone doesn't start up properly.

Thanks, Sam. That's a very good link to keep.

Bob, do you have these on your RT?

Would you care to elaborate on all the other unused items in your desk drawer and ....................... is the "Missus" aware of all these "spare parts"? (just askin).

thanks noboot, the arm is now installed, I still had warrentee left on my RTS but the difference of paying the repair of $50 deductible and the cost of your product, it is not worth the risk of the BRP product breaking again and the catastrophic results of a windshield taking my head off.

BRP I hope you are reading this.

My 2 cents worth is to just bust a couple of myths. I never had my arm all the way down and it still broke. You won't always see a crack to give you warning. NY roads did me in. So, if you haven't bought one yet, get one. If you have one sitting on your desk, acting like a paper weight, put it on some rainy day. With the wedges that noboot supplies, plus watching the video, even a novice like me could do this job. It not a question of if…..
