Default Issue with Shifting into Reverse

I just noticed this morning as I was trying to back out of the garage--I am unable to get the Spyder (2014 RT/S) to shift into reverse. Shifting to all other gears is normal, and the Spyder rides normally. But it is just not going into reverse. Can anyone think of anything I should try, or simple things I should check for. I am not much of a mechanic--quite the opposite!!

    Thanks!!

    Default Warentee??

    Hi Debbie,

I also have a '14 RT-S. If yours is still under warentee ---- get it to the dealer. It's a straight foward adjustement.

No reverse on a will cause:::

Make sure you are holding down the reverse button on handle bars, when trying to shift to reverse, just a thought. Hope you get it shifting.

    hI Debbie,
My 2014 RT can also be a bit of a "bear", to get into reverse at times. I have found that I just need to be a bit more methodical, and make sure that I've got the button firmly held down; before thinking about trying to engage reverse.
Slow and steady, will get you there!

    Default Thanks all!

Thanks for the replies. I'll try a couple more times. The RT is under warranty, so if I can't get it to shift into reverse, I'll be taking it in.

    Thanks again!!

    Default For those interested--This worked!!

I called and talked with someone in the service department here locally, and described the problem I was having. The service man recommended I hold down the reverse button (like usual) and then "flick" the gear switch to reverse. Sounded a bit strange to me, but alright, I'll try..... And.... It worked. Now the RT is shifting into all gears normally. I thought it was bizarre. Flick to reverse. Don't know what I was doing before, but flicking seems to be the key.

    Default Flicking

This sounds a lot like problems some have had when shifting into neutral.

Just a quick "flick" is all that's necessary. The same seems to hold true for shifting into any gear, just "flick it".

Some times on my 2011 I have to push the reverse button twice to get it in reverse. It doesn't do it all the time. Just every now and then. Especially when first getting started in the morning.

    Default Two or one.....

Hi Guys. I'm working on getting my first from imotorsports & I've been reading parts of the owners manual. Just wondering if it's easier to shift into reverse with one hand or using both hands?
Of course this would be on a SE5/SE6.

I always use 2 Hands. I have also found it is easier if I push the button 1st then lightly hit the lever( on the reverse side).

I've always just laid my left thumb on the button, and then wrapped around the front of the grip, to hit the paddle with my index finger...

    But hey...

Besides: I normally use both hands, to operate the cruise control...

Have always used two hands for the reverse shift. My fingers are not long enough. After 8 years, I don't think I am going to change.

Weird, when I do this it causes a very loud and unpleasant "shift" to reverse. When I press and hold the shift lever (with button held obviously) it goes into reverse smooth and quiet.....
