Cruise Control shut off.
Does the cruise control have an automatic shut off feature when certain conditions exit? Mine shut off twice during a ride on the Interstate. Both times I was in the left lane with trucks in front and to the right side of my bike. It was as if the nanny said, "This situation is not a safe place for cruise control", and shut it down.

If you bump, even slightly, the brake pedal off it goes...

Thanks. Maybe that was what happened.

Not sure what year the OP has. For me, throttle changes do not release the CC, as for changing gears, yes that will disengage CC at least on up shifts, never tried a downshift. And yes, the brakes, they will certainly disengage CC or often not let it be engaged.

You can use the CC button to increase or decrease your speed also. Just push it up or down while it is engaged and your speed will change.

My 2011 RTS does not cancel cruise control if you increase throttle manually.
In fact I use it to pass then release throttle and when speed drops to the "set" cruise control speed, it will take over again.

Ive noticed this as well as a RPM limit (should shift) about 9k on my 13 fyi. I can accelerate & slow down with the cruise but only so far then it cuts out.

I noticed it a couple of times wearing my heavy boots...

I agree.. at first I thought the switch was not holding the preset point, but my wife noticed that I had my brakes ON a couple of times when she was following. Although my boot toes were back from the brake pad, the edge of the sole was resting on the lever arm along side the bike. Hoping to get floorboards installed on my Base RT to replace the pegs and maybe my big feet will have more room to roam!!

Be careful not to rest your foot on the brake pedal, otherwise you may get put into Limp Mode with a Brake Failure warning. The brake system has 3 switches. The first turns on the brake lights and cancels the cruise. The second is a pressure switch to confirm the brakes are actually working. If the third switch is made, it indicates the brake pedal went too far.
If Nanny only sees the first switch and not the second, she thinks your brakes are broke.

Hitting a big bump can also cause it to disengage.
