Thanks for the information. I believe my dealer will be getting a call today about this.

What does that part do on a spyder? Something that should be fixed right away?

Is there a website or a way to find out if there are any recalls on your Spyder without calling the dealer?
Reading the two post above makes e wonder if I should take mine in to the dealer or make a call to see if there are any recalls on mine. I understand that the recalls could be VIN specific also, but sure would like to know if I have things that need to be fixed.

Yes. You can check for active recalls right on BRP's Spyder website.

I'm glad that you found where to look...
But sorry that there's some issues listed for your bike.

    Good luck!

The VIN recall lookup on the BRP web site is for safety related recalls.

The angle rotation sensor is the gear position sensor. The same thing with 2 different names.

There is no recall. There likely will be no letter from BRP. You may or may not be contacted by your dealer. It will not be listed as a recall on BRP's website. It will not be listed on the government website of the country it was sold in, as a recall. I repeat because it is not a recall. The reason it is not a recall is because the problem is not going to cause injury or death. When a recurring problem is a cause of customer dissatisfaction. BRP issues a Warranty Campaign type Service Bulletin. When the Spyder comes in for service the dealer enters the vin number into BRP's online system and all the outstanding service bulletins will be listed and taken care of as per the instructions on the Service Bulletin.

That is correct.... these are not recalls! They are TSB's.
Can only be seen in BOSS web. If the dealer puts your VIN into BOSS Web they will be notified about it for that Spyder.

Some dealers are good and call their customers to come in for it. Some are not so good and do it when you come in for service. Some are really bad, never look at the TSB's and never put them on until you break down

Default sensor replaced, but still had issues

When I recently bought 2015 F3-S dealer (same one as seawolf33) replaced sensor when they assembled it. No problems riding home 150 miles, but on next ride error message
came up. The problem was not the sensor itself, but the communication with the computer. Brought it to my local dealer who reintroduced it to computer (total of 30 minutes), everything
    seems fine now.

What does the sensor do, and what kind of troubles can it cause? I have a 2015 RTL

I am not sure what it does. Bike rode fine and as far I knew I was just getting the service done when I went to check on it they told me there was an active recall so that's the information I'm passing on

    Default Stocking....

Many dealers don't do much with it because they have a very small inventory and this would not be an item they stock. BRP is not known for keeping a big inventory as well so letting ryders know before having parts on hand is not a common practice. (outside of safety recalls). Worth stopping by and having them punching your vin into there computer...

As to what it does I can only assume it is the yawl rate sensor or similar letting the nanny know where it is your headed. Would more than likely give you some vehicle stability warnings if anything which may show up or simply be stored...

I guess I will have to repeat. The Angle Rotation Sensor is also called the Gear Position Sensor. Just as the name describes it senses what gear the transmission is in. That is what is shown on your display so you know what gear it is in. The ECM wants know so it can manage the engine correctly. The TCM needs to know so it knows when gears have been changed successfully. The onboard diagnostics in several modules need to know so that they know that is working like they are suppose to.

...and the dealer needs to know so they can inform the customer, because BRP does not. But neither do most dealers - it seems only the best ones do. Bottom line... Everything and everyone needs to know except the customer/owner. And there's no way for the customer to find out unless he has the forethought to ask a dealer to periodically check his serial number against the BOSS system.

Seems like there should be a better plan, right? ...or what am I missing?

    Default sensor

I have a 2015 rts-se6 that I bought new August 2015. I was riding to work with about 150 miles on the bike when the bike started shutting down and showing codes. Had to limp down the freeway on the side of the road starting and stopping as the bike would keep shutting down. Had to leave my new Spyder for about 5 days until I researched and found out about the sensor issue and called factory and was told mine was one that had the sensor issue. Called the dealer and they were able to make the update and get me going again.
Since then no issues and loving my ride.

Mine went out on my 11....the wife's might be going out soon... that sensor has a plastic "D" in it and the plastic give out so the "D" shape hole becomes an "O" and won't hole grip the bar that moves the D to tell the sensor what gear it is in.

When they go out it will intermittently through errors but the bike will still ride ok until it gets so bad and really csn't tell what gear itvis anymore.

    That is my experience anyway.

Default Dealer advised last month of GBPS failure campaign on 2015 F3S

I went in for 3000K service and dealer told me about DESS recall and the "GBPS Failure Campaign". They took care of both. Service directly related to Angle Rotation Sensor was one our labor to R/R GBPS AND CLEAN CONTAMINATION.
