    Default noisy motor

I am new to the forum and to Spyders so please bare with me. Is it normal that
the motors are mechanically noisy. I have been on VTX 1800's and GL 1800's for
the past 15 years or so and I was really surprised that the F3S motor sounds like
a thrashing machine when I fire it up. Other than that I am happy with the scoot,
especially the 6 speed auto tranny.

Yes, the 1330 sounds like a box of rocks. It is reported to be "normal".

I have gone from a 998 to a 1330. There is a great deal of differance in noise between the two. I don't know if the 1330 is louder but, the noise is more industrial sounding. All of these noises seem to be perfectly normal and should not be detremental in any way. Enjoy the ride. Forget the noise.

With a sigh of relief, Thanks for the input. I was beginning to think I was in trouble and not
even a 100 miles covered. A machinery sound crushing a box of rocks is an apt description.

    Thanks again!

I have a 2015 RT L, and I don't find the motor noisy at all, ride a Victory Vision 2013, good engin on the victory, very noisy

It may just be my perception of things, but the 998s always seemed much noisier and buzzier than the 1330s...

IMO: The 998 was always a bit louder since it thrives on high revs to achieve the power band. (5500 and up). Idle is around 1400 (I know this is not right on, but to lazy to go to the garage and check it out.)

The 1330 is quieter compared to the 998. It idles at 900 rpm. The 1330 does sound a bit like a diesel at idle.

Compared to a Gold Wing, the are much more noisy.

If you continue to be concerned about the engine noise, I suggest you find another example with the same engine and listen to it. Then decide if there is a problem in one or both!
