There're lotsa tire threads if you do a search. Michelin and General seem to be the favorites for rear tires. I recently mounted the General Altimax RT 43 on mine and so far I love it. A few others have as well.

Do a search, you'll be reading for days.

I installed a Kumho Ecsta AST 225-50-R15 Last summer on my 2013 RTS and could not be happier. I have about 3000 miles on the Kumho and wear is not even visible. I'm in the Ozark Mountains so everywhere I ride the roads are very curvy and hilly and the Kumho was a 100% improvement in handling compared to the OEM tire. I ride 2 up with my wife most of the time and the Kumho totally eliminated the wallowing feel the OEM tire always had.
Also, this tire is the same size and the tread pattern is almost identical to the OEM Kenda.
You can order these through Discount Tire but tell them it is for a car, I have heard they will not sell to you if they know its for a Can Am Spyder.

You can also buy the Kumho for same price on Ebay, shipped from discounttiredirect.com but without the stupid questions about where you are going to use it... I never get less than 25000 miles from a Kumho rear tire

Welcome to this sometime strange site..You picked a doozie first question and being the odd man out I still go with the oem Kendas which have worked well for me. I am begining to think it may be the weather and road construction out here. I am however going the give the Vee Arachnid tire a try next being the only other spyder tire on the market. If you have vacation time left do a search on tires here and read on....

I just put a Kumho Ecsta AST 225/50 R15 on my 2012 RT and have no complaints. The car answer is 2010 Chevy Cobalt LT 15" Base. The ride is in the shocks and sway bar. If you have not put the Baja Ron sway bar on your 2012 yet it is the best thing you can do for ride comfort for the passenger. My wife would not ride the Spyder till I put it on, said she felt like she was going to get tossed off at every corner.

There are plenty of choices in the 215/60/15 size that will work well on your spyder. I chose a Michelin but the General Altimax RT43 is a fine tire.

I am running the General Altimax RT 43 tire on my 2014RT SE-6, I choose the General Altimax RT 43 tire because of the Performance Evaluation.

Here is the Performance Evaluation Ratings:
Wet: Hydroplaning Resistance 8.6
Traction 8.7

DRY:

Cornering Stability 8.7
Dry Traction 9.0
Steering Response 8.6

Comfort:
Ride Quality 8.6
Noise 8.3
Tread wear 8.7

I am running 26 psi in the tire, and I changed the rear original Kenda @ 5,824 miles. This will be my 2nd motorcycle riding season with the General RT 43.

The spyder handles excellent with the General Altimax RT 43 tire, and I still have the original's on the front. Tire Size:215/60 R15. Their is clearance between the tire and the bottom of the trunk if you have an RT, RTS-SE6 , or RTL.

You came to the right place.

I use the OEM dealer supplied Kenda's. That's another story though. Many on the site are using aftermarket tires and there is a LOT of information about the various brands. Aftermarket tires seem to give more mileage than the OEM tires.

I live in a small rural area in central Utah. I looked at the websites did the comparisons,then went down to the local tire store,told them what I needed,they sold me what they considered their best tire,did a mount and balance,(I took the wheel off the bike,there is a video here on how to do that) for under $150. I don't remember the exact amount. Anyway the tire store tells me this tire is warrantied for 80,000. Hahahahaha well we'll see when I come back in 25 or 30000 miles. BTW tire now has 6500 miles on it and not showing any signs of wear.

I agree with JT about ride. That sway bar is a must have more that anything especially in Wyoming wind. It stabilizes better than anything.

All kinds of tire choices. Just to be different, I chose a Yokohama s-Drive for my first replacement. It is wearing much better than my original tire, and seems to hold the road better as well.
