Is this normal ?
I have the 2015 RT LTD SE6
The idle speed is 800-900RPM. My question is I need to turn the throttle so that the RPM reaches about 1200 than the bike all of a sudden seems to release and than moves in motion. This is both forward or reverse does not mater.
Is this normal?
Thank you for your input.

Yes it is. Mine is the same way. I am sure others will chime in and say the same.

My 2014RTS actually needs 1500 maybe to start moving, but it is a smooth move, not a sudden jump.
One of the hardest decisions you'll ever face in life is choosing whether to walk away or try harder.

As anal as I am about many things on my Spyder I have never looked at the tach to watch what RPM it reached before I began rolling away. I just roll on the loud handle and am on the way.
Artillery lends dignity to what would
otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

Thanks to all with the replies, greatly appreciated.
Before this 2015 SE6, I had the 2012 SE5 and I found this 2012 Spyder would move in motion as soon as I gave it throttle.
I'm just getting use to this new SE6 1330.
Thanks

I wonder if that's why I feel this "lugging" upon takeoff on my '14 RTL. Maybe I need to give it a little throttle before coming off the brake?
-
Just take your foot off of the brake as you start your twist of the 'loud-grip"...

Yes--that is normal--if the bike moved at 800-900 rpm bad things could happen in close space maneuvers.

Several folks mentioned that when they crank up the Spyder at the beginning of the day it does not seem to want to go easily, let it warm up and settle at 900 Rpms and it will act better.

900 RPM is the "standard"

I agree with" Askspyderman". I start mine and than put on my Jacket, Helment, and Gloves. By that time it is settled at 900 rpm and ready to go.

Mine "lugs" on takeoff from stoplights even when fully-warmed-up. I have to kind of feather the throttle to avoid stalling the engine. I've taken it to my dealer and after hooking up their computer, declared it just fine.

my new 2015 RT-Limited---
I just got mine last week and so far due to weather etc., I only have 78 miles on it--but mine does the same thing. Only thing I thought would stop with the hydraulic transmission versus the 2012 RTS-SE5--was the loud "CLUNK" when you shift from neutral to 1st gear. It still makes the loud "CLUNK" but is great in all other aspects thus far. I am glad we bit the bullet and upgraded!
