    Default High pitch noise

Returned from a ryde today and after shutting it off, you could hear a high pitch whistle, thinking it was the fuel pump. I stepped on the left side and rocked the bike and heard the sound fluctuate so I figured it may be coming from the gas tank, so I opened up the fill lid and it clearly was under a positive pressure by the sound of rushing fumes. Noise stopped so I closed the lid and after 20 seconds or so it started to hiss again. Released the lid and again it instantly stopped. Has anyone experienced this? Is this a concern? The cap doesn't seem to be venting.

    Default Interesting. ...

There have been gas cap issues but none that I know of on the f3's. The 998 also had the computer and throttle body shut down that produced an array of sounds but also have heard nothing mention of it on the 1330 platform...let's see if those in the know ...know...

If it's anything like my Kawasaki that sound is the venting. If the vent wasn't working the tank would collapse when the bike was running.

Not sure how the tank would collapse if it is under positive pressure .

When running it would be under vacuum if the vent didn't work.

I believe the only response to this would be: Touché. Well-played sir!

I don't know how much pressure you are talking about but it should be very little if any. The tank is vented to atmosphere through the roll over valve at the top of the tank. Then through a hose to the charcoal canister. Then through a hose to atmosphere. If there is problem with any of these parts, (hose pinched, roll over valve stuck, etc.) will cause the fuel tank not to vent right. The vent system needs to be inspected for problems. likely just a pinched hose.

I never had the issue before, but I looked at the lid, can't see anything clogged. Does anyone have any detailed info on it before I take it apart?

Just got off the phone with the dealer. He said it is normal, throttle body. Not so sure. Said the tank should be under pressure.
