    What code was it?

No matter what check the battery connections. Are they clean and tight?

    Default Let's see....

VSS (vehicle stability system) can be set off from some manuver made that the computer interprets as dangerous. I have set it off on long banking turns where I did not vary the speed or angle, guess the nanny figured I was going over...Now if you shut her down and after the computers reset (30-45 min) the warning goes away then you should be fine. Sometimes it will go away before that or while your ryding and the situation has been corrected. There are other times such as wheels leaving the ground etc. Have had the occasion to have all three wheels off the ground and seems the nanny is ok with that...

When the fault is showing itself. In your case, Engine Light Flashing. Press and hold the the Mode and Set buttons. Then press Turn Signal Cancel. Then release all buttons. Active codes will will be displayed on the screen. Write them down and tells us what they are.

That is a manifold air pressure sensor voltage too low.

Sounds like a bad MAP sensor to me. Sorry no simple fix. Off to the dealer.

Would it hurt to drive it there? It is aprox. 30 miles. The thing runs fine. The book says to transport it there.
Thanks so much for the input!

If it can be ridden; ride it there, if there is no other choice.
Good Luck! Please let us know what they find...

Good information above. Sometimes...the will throw a code for the above reasons. I like to say the will also do it to let you know who is really in charge.

Before calling the tow truck, or taking it to the dealer, I suggest a re-boot try. Turn off machine. Pull the key. Move away about 10 ft. Give it a minute or so, and do a re-start. Most of the time the will be like new.

I have had the "orange screen of death" while coming down a mountain--as in--brake failure. After pulling off and re-starting, all was fine. Turned out to be a teaspoon or so low on brake fluid.

Low oil will also do the same. Low battery or loose cables can also throw codes. Some quirks that are useful to know.
