I grew up there so lots of old friends are sharing their posts about road closures.
Be safe out there people.
Here is the most recent update:
**Interstate 10 Traffic Alert** (Update) **March 16, 2016 at 12:40 a.m., Texas DOTD closed I-10 Eastbound at the Texas/Louisiana line. Motorists will have to exit at Exit Ramp 873 and travel north on Texas Highway 62. >US 190 cleared for detour Texas DPS has requested that LSP close I-10 Westbound on the Louisiana side due to flood waters reaching the Interstate in Texas. The Eastbound lanes will remain open at this time.
**Currently our primary re-route will be I-49 North to US 190 West.
Alternate routes include US 165 North to US 190 West, and US 171 North to US 190 West.
We're about to leave Houston. Anyone know how much traffic is backed up on LA 27 waiting on the Cameron Ferry? I presume a lot of I-10 traffic has diverted that way. We'd rather go that way than up thru Sheveport, but not if it means waiting for hours in a line of traffic to get on Ferry.

If you don't slow down, they can't catch you..
If you don't give up, they can't win.
What a long strange journey its been.
I called SGS Causeway Bait and Tackle earlier today and spoke with a lovely lady who told me they are not having any flooding issues, but traffic can be a bit heavy with all the traffic traveling to the plant.
She said just be careful. They had a bad wreck last night where someone ended up in the river and died and they had the highway closed for a few hours due to the fatality.
I also checked the ferry status just to make sure it was running and it shows open, but I didn't call them to check on delays.
Here's the link for ferry info: http://wwwapps.dotd.la.gov/operation...x?PID=F_STATUS
If the ferry is backed up, I was thinking of just taking 27 north back up toward Lake Charles where you can then continue east on I-10.
But if we can make the ferry tomorrow, that's my preferred route for the time being.
Weatherman is the only job that I know that can be wrong one hundred percent of the time and still have a job. We had a fantastic ride down here today and had about five minutes of light rain. Temperature 85.
We left this afternoon instead of tomorrow. Rode up 59 and turned east at Lufkin on 103. Beautiful scenery, hilly, curvy road, speed limit 75. Lots of fun. Crossed the Sabine River and the speed limit dropped to 55.
We're staying the night in Many, LA. Have 270 miles till party time!

Got to Raceland this afternoon. Weather was great, but forgot to wear sunscreen. It was so good to catch up with old friends and made a new friend already. Looking forward to chatting with her some more.
It's sprinkling out this evening, but the fun will go on. Camaraderie!

Well our luck ran out. I got a nice ride in this morning then the rain moved in. The rain cleared up long enough for a nice dinner they put on for us outside with a live band. It was a great gathering now the rain has returned with a vengeance. The rain is supposed to move out tonight and I'm hoping to get a nice long ride in on Saturday.

Well the weekend was fantastic and only a bit of rain however it ended in a tight spot for me and the misses and I have to thank the Spyder Riders of the Bayou for coming to our rescue. It's late and we just got home without a Spyder... more tomorrow.

We got in a few hours ago. A bit chilly and windy going home, but the I-10 bridge was open so we were happy campers.
The lock on my F3 Gaz tank froze up. Thankfully open. Sniffed a few fumes coming home, but nothing serious. The Spyder is under warranty, so no problems hopefully.
Just want to thank all the people who made this adventure possible. The Friday night party at the host hotel was a hoot, the Swamp Tour and lunch were awesome, and enjoyed Louisiana's Finest Saturday evening escorting us to the Crawfish Boil.
Y'all know how to do it right!

I'm going back down Tuesday with my trailer to pick up the Spyder, going for a round robin trip. Leave like 3am and try and get back before my bed time.
Just reporting in. I got home a out 9 pm last night in a rental car. Left my Spyder in Stillwater, OK. I don't know much about that dealer, but they were willing to bring a truck about 30 miles to pick me up, and then it was a much longer drive back, since I was pointed the wrong way on the turnpike.
I've seen on SL about people's Spyders going into limp mode before, and have always been thankful I never had such problems. Now I know how it feels!
