Default brake fluid do you have to add

hi I have a 2014 rt at about 14,000. miles the brake fluid light came on. had to add some fluid. I have never had to add any on a car, so do I have a small leak or is this typical for spyders .

It's probably due to your brake pads wearing down... As that happens; it doesn't require the pistons to get pushed back as far into the calipers. This leave some extra space for more fluid.
Use an eyedropper to add it, and get your caps back on oriented in the proper direction, or they'll leak.

Normal as the pads get worn

well as everyone is different in how they ride and stop, I replaced mine @ 17K; could have more than likely easily gone another 10K! However, I am going to be pulling a trailer a fair amount this year so I thought I'd start with new brakes. There are slits/cuts in the brake pads, if you can still see them on BOTH sides of the rotor your're good to go. That being said, pads are MUCH cheaper than rotors to replace and except for the back lots quicker to swap out. There that's now clear as mud

    Default Depends....

All depends on transmission type and rying style. I have 33,000 miles on the oem pads and still within spec's. I have a manual transmission and use the engine compression more than the brakes. The semi auto engines require more brake usage and tend to need new pads sooner than the manuals. As mentioned above you will need to add fluid as the pads wear down. You also need to make sure the caps are repalced correctly or there will be leakage. If others have checked the level you need to recheck the caps.

Agreed. The brake fluid level sensor is ridiculously way over sensitive.
