    Default Stock Gauge Replacement

Last year I finally decided to disconnect the analog fuel and temp gauges and use the ones in the LCD display. I soon tired of looking at the "dead" analog gauges and this year I replaced them with a digital a volt gauge and a digital clock from PROSPORT PERFORMANCE http://prosportgauges.com/52mm_digit...es_gauges.aspx. Other threads have addressed this but I thought I'd a few things. The gauges come with wiring pigtails, instructions and, to my surprise, sun shields. Both gauges require a switched 12v positive source which can be found at the spade connector that went to the bulb on the original gauges. The negative lead can be found on the plug that went to the original gauges (it's the socket in the middle). Both gauges also require a constant on 12v positive source (this is less important with the volt gauge but is preferred). I found that if you remove the LCD display, which includes the speedometer and tach, by prying while depressing the two tabs at the top of that assembly and unplugging it you can easily snake a wire(s) to the front of the vehicle. Removing the right black cover for access to the radiator fill bottle will gain access to your snaked wires. from there it's easy to get the wire(s) to the battery or a constant on 12v terminal in the fuse block. Hope this helps.

Looks good. Just curious, did you do this for the aesthetics or you just didn't like accuracy of analog? How to you like the bar gauge on the LCD?

Any battery problems caused by the constant drain on your battery for the clock?

The weather here in PA is not real condusive to enjoyable riding so I can't answer that question yet, The vehicles that I store in the Winter are on battery tenders. I don't expect any problem though since the draw on the battery shouldn't be any more than the clock in the stock LCD display.

Question: Are both new gauges constantly on all the time even if the key is turned to the off position? I don't know how much draw these gauges have, but I would think that a battery issue will arise sooner or later if they are constantly on.

The displays are not on constantly. This is why you need the 12v keyed lead that went to the bulb in the stock gauges. The gauges have a smoked look when off.
