I'm not going all the way this year, but I'm involved with the Arizona portion of the run.

    Ride safe!

Thanks I have been on Harleys before on the Run but found it was no fun riding in the tight formation with riders of different skill levels. The trikes in the back seems more enjoyable. Probably spending next winter south of Tucson. Let me know of any rides down there
    Thanks

Default tight formations not for me any more

I agree on the tight formation riding such as the RFTW. I've been on that ride 5 or 6 years on two wheelers but I really got uncomfortable with the close formation riding for hundreds of miles. The last couple of years I rode, I registered and simply went ahead or behind the main group and it was much more relaxing and safe. I suppose on a three wheeler it would be a lot better at the back of the pack.

    Cool

I did it in '09 on my FJR, but recent years I work as support that Monday when it passes through Jackson, MS. There, the Harley Shop closes to provide lunch and a forum for heros and reenactors to be present with a walking tour "Trail of Honor" behind the shop. Medal of Honor Recipients, Tuskegee Airman, Buffalo Soldiers, & Code Talkers are present. Plus different services and organizations fly in their full size helicopters for examination and at least one Huey for rides.
The Vietnam Traveling Wall will also be on display.
I think it's the best lunch stop on the Run.
Look for me wearing a yellow "Security T-shirt" that says "LZ Gator".

    Cool

you don't have to do the entire ride...few do so
you can join up at any of the "overnight stops," register and attend the early morning safety briefing, and ride as far as you wish, leaving whenever you wish. One year, I joined the ride about halfway, and rode from there to DC. As a "bonus," RFTW riders get an upfront spot in the Rolling Thunder parade on Sunday. Newbies on their first ride get to enter Arlington Cemetery on their bikes (very restricted) to observe the tomb of the unknowns ceremony.

no one who participates ever returns home the same.
    I know I didn't.
