Default 2015/16 RT-S Side Marker LED question

(Now that I have purchased a new RT, I know the answer is as posted below, they DO NOT have lighted LED's. The reference in the literature is referring to what used to be called front tip lights, which are longer LED's now.)

I had a 2011 RT LTD which I sold several years ago. That model had REFLECTOR markers on the side of the fenders. I know there are aftermarket LED lights that could be installed to replace the REFLECTORS and you could also add a module so the will blink when using the turn signal.

I am looking at possibly purchasing a 2015 or 16 RT-S. Looking at the literature it appears the fenders now have LED side marker lights standard. If that is the case, do they blink with the turn signals?

If they don't, is there a module you can buy that would allow them to blink and is it a special module that works specifically for the newer models or do you use the same module that you would buy for the older non stock side marker LED's?

Are they hard to install and do you have to cut through any existing parts on the Spyder or are they plug-and-play?

Thanks in advance for any information.

The new "evolved" fenders are still just equipped with reflectors from the factory.
But TricLEDs makes some VERY nice lighting kits for them!

I just installed that kit on my ST. They look great but there's isn't a lot of room inside the front of the channel where the lights and wiring are; the bracket for the fender it self is in the way.

I'm planning on re-wiring them myself over the winter for a neater look.

    Default Confused!

I am still confused. The CanAm web site for the 2016 indicates this:

An intense look from low-profile tires wrapped around 12-spoke carbon black satin wheels, and premium front fenders with integrated LED light pipes. The Spyder RT-S model also includes a host of Satin Chrome accents and two-tone black/charcoal seat for a striking look.

So what is the "Front Fenders with integrated LED light pipes" referring to? Are those just the front tip lights?

The key is to drill a hole in the "brace" and pass the wires through to the front. It's just plastic and the wires will fit like they belong.

On my 2015 RT Limited, the White LED's on the front of my front fenders are running lights, and no, they do not flash with the turn signals. Value Accessories also has a set of fender lights made by Custom Chrome that are a bit different than the TricLED ones, and those are the ones I'm going to try in the near (?) future.

The front marker light is LED so they aren't completely crazy. Don't know what a light pipe is though sounds like someone might be smoking something in a pipe.

Perhaps it's the French-Canadian, to English translation; that they outsourced to a company in Bangladesh.

If you look closely at the front fender tip led lights with them on, you will see clear plastic ridges running the length of the lamp housing that light up from the LED behind. Those are commonly referred to as light pipes. They carry the light from the LED to the rest of the lense so it appears to light up the entire length.

Yep did that. That's not the issue. There's very little room by the front tip lights due to the bracket for the fender itself.

Two taps for the existing wires plus two spade plugs for the side and rear lights really don't fit well.

    In that case... Never mind!

I installed mine using posi-taps. It was a little snug but it worked.

Mine are soldered to a adapter plug that just plugged into the existing wire harness. No drilling ,cutting. They can be removed and put back to stock if I wanted too..

I have the "Tric-LED( led's) on the front fenders( amber) and red markers Led's ( facing the drivers feet) + red side markers on the saddle bags, installed by a Vermont Can-Am dealership.

The led's interfered with the Radio Stations( had static, not clear,) So I had a "resister" sent to me from Tric-LED, and I will have the "resister" installed, sometime this winter, before the riding season starts. Deanna

Just thinking the old fender lights were "fender tip lights". The newer RT'S have an elongated fender light...maybe the difference or maybe the Bangladesh Frenchto English translation is more accurate...

Thank you for your honest and candid response. It both stated the problem and that Tric LED sent you a resistor to take care of the problem. Could you post a picture with the lights off and only car headlights reflecting light so it can be seen what the reflective qualities are ?
