Kumho Ecsta vs General Altima RT
So I have read they both get good tread life -- - And which Ecsta? there are several different versions -- I would guess you use radials?
what are the pros and cons of each?

You could read for days regarding tires if you do a search here on the site. (which I would recommend) I have a General Altimax RT43 215/60/15 and really like it so far....just a couple thousand miles on it so far

Do a search for each tire. Look for General Altimax and Kuhmo Ecsta AST. Such action will save packing more new sawdust up the dead horse's backside. There's lots of information on each tire.

otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

I am running the General Altimax RT 43 ( I have a 2014 RTS-SE6 ) as a rear tire, pros: the spyder handles well, their is enough clearance between rear fender/license plate. I have a few thousand miles on it. Great tread, grips the road well.
Cons: None
Tire size, 215/60R 15
Good luck!

Like Jay said you can read for hours and hours, maybe even days on the subject of tires. They are both fine tires and I'm pretty sure you'd be happy with either one.

I have run both on mine.
1st was the Kuhmo Ecsta ATS. I ran it for 11,000 miles and changed it with about 3,000 miles still left on it, but was getting ready for the NTA trip so I changed it.
My impression was a very good handling tire that gripped well in all road conditions with a 14,000 mile tread life.
Next tire up General Altimax RT 43. Current mileage at 17,000
My impression is a great tire for the first 14,000. After that it started to loose traction in the wet, and now any moisture on the road will cause it to loose traction.
Next up will be the Michelin Premier A/S. It will have to be a 205/60R-15 as that is the closest size they have, but it is only 20mm narrower then stock so I do not anticipate any issues.

I am sure this has been mentioned but why not create a Tire only thread and it will be all in one place for those who don't use search.

Kumho Ecsta on Rear - replaced OEM
My first rear tire replacement on my 2014 RT was a Kumho Ecsta AST and it lasted about 14,000 miles - happy with it. However, I did change to the current rear tire which is a General Altimax RT43 (215/60-15). This size is a little taller and makes the speedometer within 1 mph of the GPS. Very happy with this one as well.
I also changed the fronts to the Kumho Solus KH16 (155/60-15). I have approx. 4,500 miles on these tires and they work fine. It's good to read all the forum threads and discover the options you have for tires. Maybe I will change again to something different....too early to tell on life on these most recent sets. I believe most are experiencing the tire change ratio of 2 rear tire changes to 1 front tires change - that's what I'm experiencing anyways. Our 2014 RT has just around 26,500 miles on it.
Good luck with your tire choice and it is good to report findings on pros and cons!
Happy and safe rydin'

Car tires?
Doesn't the tires can am puts on run super low air pressure? With regular car tires, do you run them super low or air them up as recommended by tire specs?

Spyder weighs 750 to 1100 lbs......front PSI 17 to 23 lbs ........rear 26 to 30 lbs. this is for OEM Kenda's......I do not consider this to be super low tire pressures considering the weight on three tires............If you have car tires on all three wheels I would definitely run on the low side because they are designed for much heavier loads........you don't have to be a Physics genius to see how this correlates .......I run my Michelin rear at 21 lbs cold and Looooooooooooove it at that PSI..................you might feel otherwise .....MIke

For us "Lay Persons" that would be 3/4 inch narrower!

Yea I know, hard to believe I am commenting on a tire thread. Just bought a new OEM Kenda with the new compound (34/15 build date} at Ride Now for $179 including the sales tax and mounting for free. If I get as good of mileage as Pam (17,000) I will be happy as a peach orchard boar.
BTW Pam I also got the pretty pink and green stripes on mine also! ha ha ha.
