    Default Battery operated heated clothing

I am about to make the plunge for a Venture base layer heated shirt and pants. Looks like you wear these under your normal motorcycle gear. I want battery operated for various reasons and not interested in direct wire. Looking for any comments from those that may use battery operated heated clothing.

I had battery-powered clothing years ago, so my opinion is probably no longer valid...

But the batteries always died, JUST when you really were starting to get the coldest!

The direct wire works well for me, if you check some brands do both direct and battery. Try here:http://www.warmnsafe.com/hunting-outdoors/

    Default Have to agree..!!

I had the battery operated ones but after the first ryde returned them and went with hard wired. Heating through resistance can eat up the battery in a short time. We ryde for up to 12 hours and even the comm's die so if you are a distance ryder hard wired is best. They may have better batteries now and if you find a good one let us know. Remember you should plan to travel half the time you battery will last so you can stay warm on the way back....

Battery paks work well in short hops and at lowest settings..The Higher temp setting, the faster the battery pak drains.
Direct hook to battery is the way to go for longer distances..

The owner of our local Spyder dealer wears one of the battery operated vests around the shop and he likes it but he said that the battery wears out quickly at higher settings.

If you are only planning on short rides in mild temperatures you would probably be okay.

http://www.thewarmingstore.com/gyde-...-clothing.html I have used Gerbing heated clothing for years as a direct wire and have never been disappointed. Gerbing also offeres battery operated heating clothing. Happy Heating!

My wife has a battery operated heated jacket and bought it last fall. She says the battery wears out too fast and doesn't get warm enough. She now wants wired heated gear. About a month and a half ago I bought wired, heated gear from BajaRon. I like it a lot and got a good price on it. You should call him and discuss what he has available.

My Gerbing jacket works great....many hours on the battery...6+ or so and you can buy extra batteries to change out on long trips. I like mine as I also wear it while doing yard work, etc. It has four temp levels, The one or two setting is all I need. It is a great jacket without the heat....I have a wired jacket, but never wear it.

I would wholeheartedly agree. Direct is so simple to hook up even I could do it.

I have a pair of battery operated heated gloves and like them. As others have said, the battery goes pretty quickly. Mostly I need them for those early morning starts. By the time the battery starts to go, both the weather and I have warmed up enough. YMMV

the Gerbing is the same gear either way the battery is just an option to the direct plug so you can ride plugged in then get off and use battery while walking or camping

If I do change my mind and go direct to the battery do I have a problem with battery draw. My Spyder has probably has about 10 sets of optional LED add on lights plus heated grips and seat.
