GIVING CONSIDERATION TO ALL THE 'BAD PRESS' THE POLICE ARE GETTING LATELY, I THOUGHT I'D DO SOMETHING TO SHOW MY SUPPORT FOR OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT ORGANIZATIONS...
I WAS GASSING UP MY F3-S THE OTHER DAY, AND A PICKUP PULLED IN ALONG SIDE OF ME... THE DRIVER & PASSENGER CAME OVER TO ASK ME ABOUT MY SPYD3R... WE TALKED, AND I NOTICED THAT HE HAD 'BLUE PAINTERS TAPE' ACROSS HIS REAR WINDOW - JUST ONE 1" STRIP... I ASKED "WHY...?" AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS THERE TO SHOW HIS SUPPORT FOR THE POLICE...
SO MY BRAIN STARTED WORKING, AND SINCE I HAVE SOME 1" BLUE ELECTRICAL TAPE, I THOUGHT I'D FOLLOW SUIT AND RUN A PIECE ACROSS THE READ FENDER OF MY F3-S....
I'M NOT SUGGESTING THAT ANY OF YOU FOLLOW SUIT, BUT IT WOULD BE A NICE SMALL WAY TO SHOW THAT YOU CARE AND SUPPORT THESE PEOPLE.

The blue tape is the universal symbol for police in the United States. It stands for "The Thin Blue Line." It's the line that protects us from those that will do anyone harm.

if someone could post this on Facebook we can share it just like posting the French flag to show our support to the French people following the tragic events in Paris
There was a big response to Facebook in the UK
Joe,
Are those stickers available for all of the States?
Where can we order them?
(Or are they reserved for Law Enforcement Personnel only?)
Google "Blueline Stickers" on internet or Ebay
Many Varieties
A word of caution .................................... an area in chicago had several vehicles with blue line stickers vandalized by street gangs strictly because they showed support for the police.

OK it took awhile but here is a site with state out line thin blue line decals. Thanks for starting this thread. I had no idea there was this method of showing support and I have a son-in-law in law enforcement.
First, I found this on the Web: http://policelink.monster.com/topics...s-matter/posts
Extracts:
"I was recently stopped and I have a support Law Enforcement magent and a Thin Blue Line magent on the back of my car and as I was sitting there waiting I couldnt help but ask myself if they were helping. Obviously this is not my reasoning for having these magnets on my car considering I really do support all LE out there. I also had one of my law textbooks in the back seat. So does any of that factor into an officers decision? I did end up getting the ticket but he reduced it significantly- he timed me doing 55 in a 35 and he lowered it to a 40 in a 35.
First of all you should not have a thin blue line magnet on your car. The thin blue line magnets, pins, etc were created for active law enforcement officers, not supporters. I would make you take it off your car.
EXACTLY! You are not entitled to having the thin blue line on your vehicle. This is something that would make an active member of the line upset to say the least if he/she discovered that you are displaying it w/o being an active LEO. I will ask you: Please remove the thin blue line magnet off your vehicle."
So I did a Google search on 'police supporter decal'... and found this foto at the top of the hits... I like it!
Vendors: Air Hawk2 seat air cushion, Adjustable Side Window Deflectors, slip-on grip covers, RAM GPS mount & a short RAM socket arm... with a bicycle handlebar bell mounted to it - a carryover from my 2-wheeling days, it was great for getting your ridng buddy's attention when stopped at a traffic light
After reading this thread, I asked my son-in-law (NYS Trooper) how I can show support for law enforcement officers. He said every time I visit, I can buy him dinner.

It is $2.99 for a 2 inch size but can be ordered in a lot of sizes/costs, as well as magnetized.
I'm ordering one for my blue Spyder... and one for each of the 3 cars.
Which ever one of these stickers that you choose to display is proper.
From time to time a Law Enforcement Officer may inquire as to what the sticker means, (they already know), but that is your invitation to tell them that you are a
1) Active or retired Law Enforcement Officer (you may be asked for your credentials at this point, don't get caught impersonating a Police Officer).
2) A family member of a Law Enforcement Officer
3) A supporter of Law Enforcement in general
None of these answers entitle you to any special privileges, But if your offense was minor it might make the Officer a little bit more understanding.
As a Retired law enforcement officer (Police Chief) I will tell you that no law enforcement officer has any authority to ask or order you to remove one of these stickers from your vehicle.
This sticker simply implies that you are a supporter of Law Enforcement in general.

I made that a practice back in my employed days and got out for restaurant food during the work day or immediately after work.... any military or law enforcement diners got a free anonymous meal as a "Thank you". No matter what type of restaurant or the size of the group. Only occasionally would a wait person rat me out. A 'feel good' moment for all involved, including their serving waitress who was well thanked as well. I'm not ex-law, ex-GI.
