Default All the leaves are gone.

It was a beautiful warm fall day to ride today and we found some great mountain roads...but the trees are bare now. Still fun, but the magic was not there as it was a week ago. The Spyder will spend most of it's time indoors for the next few months. Really glad we got a good one in today.

    Default So many acorns

Leaves are not a problem here, but the acorns . They're everywhere! Crushed in tire treads, tracked into the house ..... I'm glad my Spyder is kept in the garage.

We've got 2 walnut trees and an oak tree (among others) and the squirrels love us in the fall gathering all the walnuts. Our neighbors harvest the ones that fall outside our fence.

BTW - Walnuts drop walnuts and those could become new walnut trees. Oak trees drop acorns which could become new oak trees. Why aren't acorns called oak nuts?

We do not have any snow here in the North East yet( in the valleys) but some in the mountains. Usually the week of Thanksgiving the ski areas open up for the season. Next week the traveling is looking good, no major snow storms WOHOO! Deanna

I like riding during the three to four weeks after the leaves have fallen. It opens up the view on some of the mountain rides I do. What is a tree lined road in summer, opens up into huge mountain and valley vistas that remain unseen unless you pull off the road to peek through openings in the trees during spring/summer.

A lot of the view was missing on the three mountain rides we did when NtA visited AK in July. It is a completely different ride in early spring and late fall.

...But the handiest aspect of a leaf blower... is that you can take it into the house, open up some windows, and fire it up!

Why are deep fried Turkey testicles (NUTS) called 'Rocky Mountain oysters' around here in Okieville?

Because if you called them what they really are, on the menu; you'd never sell a single plateful!

I think Rocky Mountain oysters are from bulls (steers), not turkeys.

In my area its pecan harvest time. We still have about 20 gallons of pecans from last year. across the street is a pecan orchard and during harvest, they shoot air cannons off all day long. It sounds like war outside.
