Default So I rode a two wheeler today.....WOW!

I winterised my two wheeler. & took out for quick ride, hasent been run much now I have so wanted to circulate the clutch & give good once over (blow crud out the pipes)
& WOW it was totally odd getting back on only two wheels, shifting, 2brakes. The whole mix. Glad to say I did not stall it out or any hair raising close calls. Just odd feeling like on a strangers bike. Speedo & controls in other places, NO radio NO windshield. Every thing just felt off. Not the same bike I remembered before the spyder. Glad I kept it & didnt have to trade in or sell & hope I wont HAVE to any time soon, but not going to let just sit up & rot.
Fyi '06 yamaha road star 1700S with few custom FARKLEs whole ammo theme going on
Only @42,864miles no accidents or troubles, most work it needed was new clutch that froze up while I was in hospital most of 2012. So first thing I did as recovery was get it right & new tires. Proved I could ride safely again & then luck pointed me to my spyder 537 days , 24,518miles of smiles later. Anyone else back step & feel the same? Does it go away?? THX

In September a riding buddy and I landed in Europe and picked up rental bikes to ride with some Red Knight friends in Switzerland and Germany. I had a few concerns not riding on two wheels for over a year. I found that after about 50 feet down the road my brain said, "oh, we're back on two wheels" and everything just clicked back into place. I was very cautious as I got my "sea legs" back on two wheels. But by the second day when we entered the Alps it was second nature again.

It was a lot of fun, but it still felt great to get home and head out on the RT again.

This is going to be hard to put up for the winter!

Currently I am lusting over a new SPYDER, looking and pricing and contemplating selling this Triumph AND my 2012 Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive.

I knew I shouldn't have made that trip last week to Pitt Bull Powersports

I didn't realize that Yamaha made an ammo carrier... I LIKE it!

Yes; you CAN go home again; just don't expect the same kids to be playing there anymore!

    Default Bummer..!!

Don't have but the spyder. Don't miss the two wheels but would not have a problem adjusting quickly. Guess when you have driven all kinds your mind and limbs just need that moment to find that "Oh yeah...this is the one you drive with all your limbs"

"Can you keep it, and still get a Spyder??" QUOTE

Bob, I can keep it but that would be another example of what I went through before with having owned 5 bikes at one time! Things like which one do I ride this time? Did I change the oil on that one and check the air pressure and put the trickle charger on it yet?????? Parking can be a chore also and keeping up with registration, tags, insurance etc---a chore but somebodies gotta do it I guess

I like to sell outright to private parties to avoid dealer drama with the trade in headache, so I guess it will take a while to sell the bikes, especially since the season for many of us is mostly over. I might try to trade for a late model, 3 cylinder Spyder, plus some of my cash, with someone that wants a bike but time will tell.

Darn, darn, da darn, darn! Now you folks have me drooling all over the keyboard. I just love two wheels and big iron varieties make it even better. My hip says not only no, but heck no. Had to give up my last ride in 2012 (Vulcan 900). I downsized from the Vulcan 2000 because it was just to heavy for me to heft around. The 900 was a perfect fit and turned out to be one of my favorite two wheel rides.

Were I able, I would have an Indian or a Valkerie in my stable. Going to get me an F-3 LTD in spring because it will give me back the "bagger" look that I like so much.

I also loved my 2006 Rocket III and was heartbroken when I traded in on my first Spyder, 2012. But now I own a 2015 RTS and love the bike. But I still would love to hop on a 2 wheeled Rocket if I had one.

Default I was going to reply yesterday.

I got booted off my PC by my wife before I could reply but I did in fact go for a couple of short rides on my Indian Chieftain yesterday. I bought the Indian back in April and have about 6750 miles on it. So far it's the nicest 2 wheeler I've ever had. Low seat height, low center of gravity, torquey engine and smooth as butter shifting as well as comfortable. The classic Indian styling along with the fairing & hard saddlebags look great together.

    Default Putting My Foot Down?

So, when I got my Spyder, it took me a couple of hundred miles to stop putting my left foot down to support the bike at stops. I figure if I returned to 2 wheels, I'd probably forget to support the bike at lights. Boom! Down I'd go!

How do any of you that switch back and forth cope?

i acutally dont have any problems anymore. at first i used to grab for the brake lever that is not there on the spyder that was my biggest thing. I certainly dont think its possible to forget you are on 2 wheels and to put your feet down however i can see trying to reach for the ground on the spyder. I can switch back and forth no problem now and on occasion will switch on the same day. I sold my cruiser to get a spyder (safer for riding the family) but will hold onto my 2 wheeler for solo rides as long as i can, its just a different kind of fun. I am the only one on this thread with a sportbike though

Yup, the FZ6R is hers. Our current stable includes a couple of Triumphs (Street Triple R, Thruxton) and her XT250 dirt bike in addition to the Spyder. The VFR and the track bike are gone though.
