Potential causes for the belt sliding off? 2010 RS-S SE5
Hi all! Is the belt tension and/or alignment the only thing that keeps the belt on the sprockets? Or is there supposed to be some guide somewhere between the sprockets? Mine is sliding off the rear sprocket (this is on a 2010 RSS semi auto, if that makes a difference).

There is a flange on the "Inside" circumference of the Rear Pulley and a Flange on the Front pulley that restrain the belt. The Belt alignment should be such that your belt runs at about 1-2mm from the rear pulley flange. If the belt walks off the rear pulley after it is aligned, check the front pulley for being loose or wobbling on the shaft. The front pulley should be tightened to specs. If it wobbles, the pulley and shaft splines may be damaged. If the belt wanders on the rear pulley the belt may be damaged.
But before assuming the worst do a belt alignment after checking the front pulley for being torqued properly. Do a search for belt alignment, there are several clear descriptions of the proper procedure.

No..!!
there are no guides. If the belt is walking off it will be in the alignment. Tension is more a vibration thing. In many cases you will have the belt walking a bit more in reverse but track going forward. Double check the alignment...

All of the above
Plus
If the rear wheel bearings are bad or the rear sprocket bearing is bad the belt will walk off the sprocket

When are you noticing that the belt is walking around on the pulleys?
When you're backing up; it's perfectly normal for the belt to do it...
You actually need to check it after riding forward for a ways. (in a straight line...)

Seems to be while going forward. Will try to adjust it today and see how that goes

Has the belt actually come off yet?? Or even got to the stage that some of the belt is running off the rear pulley??

Fixed the belt today (rear axle adjustment, the rear wheel was definitely misaligned). Works great, went for a nice frosty ride at 31 degrees! Spyder works great, thanks to all for advice!
