Default Looking for a winter enclosure for my Spyder RT

I have been researching fully enclosed covers for my Spyder. I don't have a garage and live in the woods. I am looking for something with a floor and a zip up top to keep the critters out. Any ideas? Thanks, Greg

If you live in the Woods; you must know that the critters always find a way to get where they can cause the most trouble...
Why not try getting one of those sheds from Sears (Or Sam's Club, or wherever...), and see if you can seal that up enough to slow them down...

    Default Well..!!

being in that space is not a problem...the shed idea seems the best. Like Bob said Sears has some plastic types, there are metal types and then the home depot wood frame type. I wood go for the wood frame, bit warmer, cheaper and easier to repair. you can also take advantage of it for storage and bad summer weather.

I agree with Gene and would also slather the underside of floor and edges all the way around with Cuprinol wood preservative if the wood is not pressure treated.

I built one. 9' x 12'. Lots of room for the RT-S and leaves lots of room for shelving, etc. for all of the stuff we seem to collect.

That is nice! I have a friend with a spyder who is limited on yard space, and he is looking to do something like this. He is looking into a 10x10, or up to a 12x12. We found some used ones on craigslist. I never thought about converting the normal doors to a nice roll up garage door like you have. That is really a great idea. I have a large garage, but something like this would be nice to free up some of the main garage floor space.

If you live out in the woods and zoning regulations aren't a problem a shipping container would be ideal. Steel, watertight, and a good floor. All you need are a few concrete blocks to set it on. No idea how close this outfit is to you but they offer a 20' as-is container for $2350. http://www.321equipment.com/ You might even do better than that off Craigslist. Some outfits have them available for as little as $1500. I used one for storage while I was building my house. Worked super well.

I think a container is a great idea, i would paint it in & out since they do rust & put insulation in because they can get very moist inside.

    Default cover fora Spyder RT

Thanks everyone, these are all great ideas. I live in a community with an strict HOA on the side of a mountain in the woods. I need a soft sealed cover to store my RT in the driveway. I am looking at a Cycle Sack which claims to be zippered and keeps the critters out. I am waiting to hear back to see if the Cycle Sack is large enough for a 3-wheel bike or a Spyder RT.

If you have any ideas, please me know. Thanks, Greg

I would be tempted to approach the HOA fathers (mothers?) with this question. "I must protect my Spyder from the winter elements. Give me specific, affordable, recommendations for a shelter that you will accept." In other words, put the onus on them and if necessary push them until they give you an acceptable answer. And if they resist or won't then tell them you'll put up whatever you want and they better not complain.

HOA can be good, but they can also be a serious PITA.

I am going to use my enclosed trailer to store mine this year. Plan on putting a RV outlet on it so I can pull power for the float charger and a small heater.

If your just looking for storage, I think the best and cheapest solution and easy resale would be an enclosed trailer. Plus you would probally end up pulling bikewith it.
