I was on another forum where a topic came up Harley versus Can Am Spyder. Atautomatically. t a comment was made. "A real motorcycle looks like a Harley " .
What are your thoughts on this topic without getting to much off the topic..
I would of asked them to race for titles, and if anything falls off, or any oil leaks that bike looses automatic
I really don't give a rat's rump what other folks think a motorcycle is supposed to look like. I bought my Spyder for what it looks like and what it is.

... Motorcycles are kind of like Baskin Robbins... You're looking at 31 flavors of ice cream, don't you kind of want to know what they all taste like?...
Motor-cycle....that would be a motor (internal combustion, steam, electric etc) propelling a cycle (bicycle, tricycle, unicycle) but like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, a true motorcycle would be what you feel is one. But we must give them the fact that through the years since the first they were considered two wheel versions....one needs to search for the names given to motor powered three wheelers of yore.. I would never argue this with any two wheeler they are closer than we are...

I've ridden bicycles, and tricycles, peddle types, and motorcycles, two and three wheeled varieties, but I am really proud of my Spyder and since it has three wheels, when people ask, I tell them I ride a trike. I've ridden enough years that I consider a motorcycle a two wheel, handle bar steered, vehicle that can carry two people one in front of the other, and Harley trikes were called Servicars.

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
We simply say "Our Bike" and normally, that is the end of it.
If they ask "What kind of a Bike?" then we say "A Can-Am Spyder".
This usually leads to a lot of inquisitive questions and big smiles. From them and us.

I don't know. We have had a few negative comments about not having a "real" bike, but a lot more positive ones. A quality, touring, two wheeler looks really nice. Our spyder is not in second place. It drives just fine (still on the learning curve - but it is not steep) and looks equally as good.
If we hadn't swapped out to three wheels, we would have given up. If we could have, we would still be on the Yamaha. Not because it is better, but because we were used to it.
So, is the spyder a "real" motorcycle? After writing this, I do know. It is to us. We are still out there. And we don't feel like we gave up anything.

Who Cares what others think about your brand of ride. Just tell them their Approval is not Required.
Was thinking the other day, when younger I'd walk into a room and wonder if the people there would like me, Now I walk in and wonder if I will like anyone there.
