    Default Cold Weather/Cold Hands

I've searched the forums for ideas for heated grips and I found a few posts about the different brands. Since I have an older does anyone have a suggestion which would be the better way for me to go for grips? I've seen that there are ones that replace your whole grip and then there are those that a heated tube is inserted into the end of your grip; there are those that even velcro (?) on? I want to extend my riding season through the winter as long as there's no snow or ice on the ground. My hands always get cold first and end my ride before I'm ready. I may even want to look at adding some type of heat source to my seat (Ultimate) if there is anything available.

    Thanks!

Pollyheaters. Inexpensive, work fantastic, and completely invisible once installed. I've used others and will never use anything else.

If you try looking in some of the snowmobile accessory places; they normally have exactly this sort of item available.

    Default cold weather/hands

Has anyone tried scuba divers gloves as liners in motorcycle gloves?

Heated grips only warm the bottom of your hands and mine usually get cold on the top. You might want to go for heated gloves instead they will keep your whole hand toasty.

I I have snowmobile gloves from Costco that I love and they are plenty war for me and waterproof as well.

I used Bikemaster Heated grips on my GS and they are easy to run the wires to the battery and under the seat.
NOT as good as the Factory heated grips but I used them (With Good Gloves) to about 40 degrees.

    Default Here's the thing..!!

heated grips and seats are nice on your luxury liners like RT's but on the sport models your palms and bottom are not the parts getting cold. Wind deflectos help the thighs and hips but I find the best are some gloves but heated gloves best. We ryde with heated liners and heated gloves....it does get cold here at the higher elevations when ryding the mountains during winter including snow..

Thanks for all of the replies. I have probably tried every type of glove known to man...except heated. I have small hands (size 4.5 ring) and find that most gloves do not fit me well, plus the fact that my hands will begin to get cold at any temperature under 68.
This Southern Girl does not do cold very well.
I wear underarmour to protect my legs, upper body, and feet but thought the warmth coming from grips and a seat would help prolong my enjoyment. I'm not ready to store my .

Heated grips are nice, but as others have mentioned they have their limitations. I find heated glove liners work REALLY well for me. The ones from WarmNSafe are great. They come in extra small and they are a great company to do business with. Here's a link.

I used muffs on my NC700X which I plan on moving to my RS when it gets cooler. They blocked the wind off my hands and along with my very old ski gloves kept my hands warm, even down to 12° F at 60 MPH. I hope they are compatible with the RS as I haven't tried them on yet.

Thanks so much everyone. There are definitely several options to look into that I hadn't thought about. I'm thinking that my best option will be heated gloves.

    Heated gloves for sure

Wind deflectors take alot of wind away from your body.

Hunters seat cushion has the beads in it that warm up when sat on.

Little heat cushion for the tusion

I've thought about those. Any issues grabbing the clutch? How easily can you get your hand on/off the bars? Any recommendations on a specific brand? Thanks!

Clutch? What's that? My two-wheeler was a Honda NC-700X DCT. Auto up and down shift with ABS braking, didn't have a clutch lever!

Getting hands in and out with thick gloves on can be a bit slow. Once I had my left hand out and the light changed and I wound up just grabbing the grip outside the muff until I got going and could take the extra time to get my hand back inside the muff.

As for the specific brand I bought whatever the dealer had on the wall. Mine say QB Quadboss on them. They slip over the grip area and attach with a Velcro strap. I just now slipped one on my RS left handlebar and I think they will work. There is an opening that I had previously enlarged that gives me a bit of window to the left thumb controls.

Tried them on our snowmobile before but could never get comfortable with them. Couldn't see controls, not real smooth to get in and out of.

Anyone know? Does the RS charging system have enough power to run heated vests and gloves for both driver and pillion?

Heated gloves are the best option - but ski gloves work well, too
