Default catalytic converter replacement and loudness??

I am considering replacing the catalytic converter and have heard that it greatly increases the loudness with aftermarket mufflers. I plan on keeping the oem muffler, so will the sound be that much louder with the oem, or is it just with the aftermarket types? I dont wan loud mufflers! Has anyone replaced their converter and stayed with the oem muffler and how does it sound? If it gets too loud can the converter be replaced with a small muffler instead to keep down the noise and not change the back pressure too much. I have a good custom muffler shop locally that can fabricate most any combination of muffler/bypass combination.
    Thanks

I had the bypass installed on my '14 RTS and left the stock muffler on. I didn't notice much, if any,
    increase in loudness.

Replaced mine and it is noticeable if running next to a spyder that still has the converter. I like the sound. You could replace it with anything you want, I suppose, but you won't want to.

I installed the bypass pipe on my 2015 RT and left the stock muffler on. Sounded more like a ricer lot of back firing so took it off and put converter back on. Did not like the sound at all.

Lamont's pipe and a Big City Thunder baffle would be the setup you would want to do. The baffle gives you your midrange back and stops the dcell poping.

A friend I ride with pulled the cat off his 2010 RT and had little increase in volume. He just bought a 15 RT and pulled that cat as well. It is slightly louder but as was pointed out before if you were not next to one with the cat you would never know. I think it sounds really nice! My wife Kind of wish's my F3 sounded a tad quieter without the cat. I think it sounds great however very much more noticable without the cat and stock exhaust.

With the longer muffler on the RT vs the F3 the RT sounds so good and not loud at all with the cat removed.

I just did mine last Saturday at Biketoberfest and can almost hear it going down the road. When accelerating it has a slightly throaty sound but isn't loud even when running hard. The ECU will will self adjust so your bike runs properly all you have to do after getting rid of the cat and installing a by pass pipe is start up your trike and let it idle for about 15 minutes, and then shut it off for about 15 minutes, and when you restart it, it will be ready to go. I like it, the little throaty sound with out being loud, and my RT seems a bit peppier, and I've been told my gas mileage will be better, but only time will tell.

You can call Spyder Attitude (864-907-1830 ) or e-mail to spyder.attitude@yahoo.com, or go to his web site: www.spyder1attitiudecom. He did mine Saturday in about 20 minutes not counting the run and rest time, and only charged a touch over $100.00 for the pipe and installation. Try it, you'll like it.

My RS was an easy fix with the Hindle pipe. Sounded awsome after the change.
