    Default SmoothSpyder belt tensioner

Just received this for the F3, so I will be working on tonight after work. I will try and document the process with stills. A bit of prep work removing both seats and left panels, but pretty straight forward. uploadfromtaptalk1444255857706.jpg

It takes longer to get the tools out than what it takes to install.

To adjust is pretty easy if needed, just need to remove belt cover.

Okay, finally had a chance to run her out on a freeway to see how much, if any harmonic vibration was reduced from the long drive belt at the 67-72 mph mark. How does 100% sound. Was concerned because per instruction I only put a little load on the spring. Truly the best upgrade for smooth performance. Now I don't have to worry about my fillings in my teeth coming loose.

Just ordered mine after the positive reviews. Thanks for posting! If I don't install pretty soon, it will have to be a winter project here in NY.

Thanks to the genius of Capt Jim Stanger,we now have SPYDERS that operate up to expectations. It is now so smooooth. This is made even more spectacular, since we were told the vibrations weren't really there. Or,: "they all do thar".

Thank you for the pictures and review. I may have to get one of these. Did you really need to remove all the side panels to install it? Does the tension need to be adjusted or maintained periodically?

Yes the side panels need to come off, its not that big a deal. Just 4 screws and be careful with the clips. Its a 30 minute install tops and really does smooth out the belt harmonics.

I had one installed on my RTL last Saturday while I was at Biketoberfest and must say my ride home was much nicer than my ride down. My vibration was around 4,000 rpm or 75 mph. The tensioner didn't completely get rid of the vibration ( I can set it more) but it did move most of it up out of the range I normally ride at. What little is left, is now hardly noticeable so I'd say this was money well spent.

Takes 30 minutes to remove everything, and then cutting the Tupperware takes a little bit, but all very easy. Adjustment is easy and don't think you will have to do that again, but if you do, pretty simple, the only thing needed to be removed in the belt guard.

Question Belt tensioner and jacking point

Hi, I also run the smoothspyder and it has made a huge difference but my dealer has the belt tension way too high (according to my Krikit) so still some minor vibes there. Can anyone help out with the jacking point for the rear wheel so I can raise it to adjust tension. Cheers, Graeme

Went for a kinda long ride to the dealer today and had the "Aha" moment when I realized that there weren't any of those annoying vibes anymore! Just a reminder to anyone who installs one themselves-don't forget to remove the allen wrench after the adjustment! I almost did, and cringe to think where it might have ended up..

I've had my tensioner on for 2000+ miles. It works great, was easy to install, and I finally can enjoy my F3S cruising at 70 with no vibration.
