    Default New fault code C0042

I just replaced front brake pads, rotors, and rear tire. Now the 2013 RT Limited throws Brake Faults on display. Tried the display reader trick and received a C0042 code which isn't anywhere I can find. Anyone know what's going on? I had a stuck caliper that started all this and now my pedal is softer than it's ever been. Not sure I like the long travel.

I just took it out again and verified. Sort of random events cause it but definitely I get BRAKE FAILURE message and then the console can be used to display C0042.

Bled the brakes, front and rear, no bubbles. Saw in shop manual something about VMC (VCM) bleeding? Know anything about that?

Tough read on image but helped find the page in my manual. Now to figure out WTH that module is located. Looks like under front Tupperware.

I think you need to be connected to the Buds system to activate the VCM and bleed it
    I read that somewhere
should not need to bleed VCM unless you allowed the brake reservoir to suck in air

You can bleed the brakes without BUDs but it wont bleed the ABS system as you cannot open it without BUDs.
While doing this work never turn on the key. If you do it can log a fault that you might not be able to clear without BUDs.

I can't say anymore what I have done or not done with or without the key. I would suspect the good news is the error messaging will 'clear' itself from the display every time I shutdown the bike and will randomly rear it's ugly head during the next test ride or two.
This all began back at the dealership when they 'mis-informed' me, do not want to go back there for BUDS service.

Still shocked that no one has chimed in with a definition of a C0042 code!

I looked in all the code documents I have including the new list that was published for 2014/15 and the new F3's.
That code is not in any list I have! But it is inbetween codes all related to the VCM and brakes.

works for cars, won't hurt to try, find loose gravel about 30 mph apply brakes hard so abs activates, do several times, this purges air out of system in a car, don't see why it won't work on spyder

That's what I needed, a direct reference to the code, thank you. We performed a manual bleeding process last night and found air in the VCM. The ryde is still on the lift for its oil change but I'm hoping that solved it. If not, I'll be walking down your list and looking for the gremlin.

Where did you find this code? What documents? I have all the code documents from BRP and it doesnt list it.

This is quite interesting, even though this is years old it still pertains it sounds like.
I now have 3600 miles on my 2020 RT Limited, and on the way home last night got a brake failure warning with code C0042.
I have looked through the repair manual I purchased, the owners manual, Lamonsters code page, and as of yet have not found what C0042 is.

I Turned the bike off, waited about 30 seconds, restarted it, and all lights were off and no more code showing on the screen.

Did you have your foot resting on brake pedal? I remember some having an issue with foot touching pedal long enough that the ECU throws a code.
Not sitting at a red light, but rather riding for miles and the brake pedal is slightly depressed.
    Check the fluid level also.

Have you tried to bleed the brakes since you mentioned the pedal is soft.
