How to hook up heated clothing
We in MN love our cold weather. We also love our Gerbing heated gear. Had no problem hooking up to our 08 RS. There is even a switched power connection.
How do I hook up with my 15 RTS?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

For the rider use a Panel Mounting Kit. (EDITED TO ADD old Pat number ACPMKT - THE middle cable shown on their site isn't the BMW cable it's a coiled cord or it should be because that's what came with both of mine).
For the passenger install a power socket back near (below the right side) riders heated grip and use the Gerbing 12V DC Plug Cigarette Adaper. (EDITED TO CORRECT old Gerbiing pt # TCPLSW). It has a cord to attach to your Gerbing control for the heated jacket liner or whatever youre using.
They've re-done their site and it's no where near as imformative as in the past. Either they don't have a number of items anymore of it just doesn't show them. Like the Plug Cigarette adapter which I bought 2 of just last year.
Good luck.

Understand the Gerbing items. My problem is where to tie into Spyder's 12v system?

I'll second this. Yes, I could install a relay to allow a "live when running" condition but I've run my Gerbings fused line straight to the battery on the last 4 bikes that I've owned. I've wired three others for friends. You will unplug when you dismount so there isn't much of a chance that you will take off your liner and controller and leave them on the roadster and plugged in. Easiest is usually the best solution.
If if you are adding other farkles then bite the bullet and get a fuse panel with internal or external fusing

I spliced into the 12v socket in the rear trunk. I took off the rear seat back and fished the wire in to the trunk. Was pretty easy

Thanks to all!
Thanks for all the great info! Start running wires in the morning (after getting a fuse panel, of course)!
