Default What's your favorite ryding season?

It used to be a toss up between Spring and Fall, but now I think that I prefer Fall. The weather is cooler and the colors are awesome!

October through May is my favorite time. June, July, August, and September tend to be hot, so I don't ride as much.

October is my favorite month of the year due to the fall foliage colors and the smell of the leaves leaving for the winter...I try and ride every nice day in Sept.and Oct...Sometimes up till mid Nov. here in central PA...

I ride anytime it's above 35 degrees and not raining. Usually April to October/November.

    Smile Skiing?????

I ski when I can't ride.... Mt Rose ski resort is 11 minutes away and my season pass just arrived 2 days ago. Honestly I'll ride the when the roads are clear of snow and temps are above 35 F or so. Otherwise it's off to the slopes.

I agree, just as long as chains are not required, We rode down the southern Oregon coast the first of this year and we had a low at Gold Beach of 27 degrees, my wife is happy as long as her heated gear works, and we bought her some snow mobile boots.

I will start by saying anytime I can. When ice is off my side road I bring out. When black ice hits the roads, I put away. This year, I fired it up on 3/17 (St. Patricks Day). Last season I put it away on Nov 11th (Veterans Day).

Seasons are kind of unique here. Winter white stays around the longest (usually Oct-Apr), May and June in the higher altitudes. See My signature picture taken in May of 2014.

Once it starts getting warmer, the leaves come on quickly. They majority pop out within a couple of hours when the day is right. The buds get thick and then...poof!

The scenery is always changing from day to day.

The spring goes from no leaves and beautiful visability through the forests into the mountains, to green and glorious. The leaves mature quickly, and you can see some turning to yellow in early July.

Summer season is very short (June/July). By August you can feel the cool fall breezes coming off the ice fields and mountains.

By late August-early September, the leaves are in fall splendor. Yesterday was very beautiful. A combination of green, yellows and the some reds and orange in the alpine meadows and low lying shrubs in the forest. It was also 66 above--very nice for this time.

Another week or two, a wind storm will come and leaves will be gone from the trees. The mountains will be visible on some of my rides. Termination dust is already on the high mountains. (Snow). As the season progresses the snow line will get lower and lower until the mountains are all covered.

What I am saying...I like riding any time of year. Am extremely lucky to live in such a beautiful place--regardless of season.

Year round. I may hold back on a rainy day but most pains is crap traffic. Autum is good balance of temps & wheather localy few more quaint events, still good for bbq less pollen, helps. Spring everyone is rushing to get out & understandbly but most have been locked up long enough seem to forget how to drive (more than normal). Have had huge increase in triple lane changers last few months (everyone in rush,"crap thers my turn!")
im redneck yes but smart enought to not have to rush everywhere. (Bermuda train triangle taught me that)

My favorite is fall because of the cool weather, beautiful colors and the pollen is not as bad as spring.

When I bought a BMW R1200GS in 2010 I committed to ride it 1,000 miles a month. Because of that I shot out on some very hot days that I normally would not have and had some wonderful rides. I'm a four season rider but fall is my favorite.
