Where are you located right now?

Are you near Ponchatoula, Denham Springs or West Monroe? The Spyders to the Rescue site has people in those places.

Go to SpyderLovers Home page. On the right look for "Spyders to the Rescue" and select by State and City. It will list people with their phone numbers. I think all the ones in La will be able to haul a Spyder.

    Good luck.

    Default Let's see..!!

have you checked the oil level..?? Add oil if needed this may do it but the oil light refers to the oil pressure. If it is not the level you will have to go into it deeper. Nothing you can do roadside. Depending on the noise mentioned you may not want to run her anymore till its checked....

was unable to work the forum past the first post on my iPhone

First thing I did was check the oil level and it was fine. I then arranged the tow.

I'm home safe just now...Progressive Insurance Road Service provided a tow from Waveland/Bay St Louis/Gulfport home to Metairie/New Orleans for a reasonable price...covered for 15mi and it was 65mi run.

Bike in driveway, I'm deflated & a wreck (already bipolar disabled and financially challenged). I bought the bike 3 weeks ago and put 400mi on it...only had 1400mi when purchased used from a small family dealership who deals in used bikes and parts. Bike was sold on commission...I met the first/original owner.

So, I received a call from a board member checking on me and suggesting checking for any codes. That will be my next move as soon as I catch my breath.

Anyone know of any documented problems with 2010 RT's with oil starvation, grenade engines, etc ???
    VIN is 2BXJBLC1XAV001160]

like I say, I'm really frazzled...geez, first payment on loan isn't till Oct 15th

think you're having a bad day !!! cough cough

I'm glad you're home safe and mostly sound. When you get a chance print off the Spyders to the Rescue list and keep it on your byke. I'm glad you were able to get a tow.

ok, pressed buttons : mode-set-turn signal cancel at same time with key on: result is blank lcd screen
I had to turn the key on a few times during the day to engage the parking brake on & off when the bike was on the flat bed truck for the tow.

does that mean any codes relating to the oil light on longer show on the screen...is there a way to otherwise check codes without starting the engine? if there's an oil starved knock and possible oil pump failure, I don't want to start it for sure.

    TIA

Oil light may not throw codes. There are only three oil related codes. P0520-oil pressure sensor circuit malfunction. P0523-Oil pressure sensor sticking. P0524-Engine oil pressure too low.

The sequence only checks active codes, so once you turn off the key you lose visibility of any codes that popped up with your issue (unless they reoccur as soon as you turn the key on). You have to be hooked up to BUDS to see historical codes.

I suppose I would have thought that the oil light coming on from the sensor would shut it down or at least put it into limp mode to protect the engine from harm.

Looked up your VIN and there were no recalls for it.

It's just like the oil pressure sensor in your car. It illuminates the warning light but won't necessarily shut the engine down. Unfortunately I don't think it will be covered by BRP warranty given the year of the bike. Did the dealer give you any kind of warranty? Keep us posted on what you find out.
