    Not far from where I live is Lancaster County, PA, which includes the towns of Bird in Hand, Blue Ball, Paradise, and Intercourse - all fairly close to each other.

    My wife is from Bertie County, and I always argue with her on the correct way to say "Conetoe". Then she gets at me about a small township close to my home, "Bahama".

    What I've never figured out is why the city is pronounced New Orlie ens, or New Or lens, but the parish is Or leeens! They're both spelled Orleans!
