Default Trip to Fire Lookout in California

Rode a short 50 miles up to our highest peak in Marin County (Mount Tam) and visited the fire lookout. It doesn't look like much, but the view of the San Francisco Bay Area from here on a day like this is spectacular. This is from 2600' up. And yes, I could see some of our fires up in Northern California.

I played hooky from work today, cleaned carpets, exercised and now I'm waiting on my husband's motorcycle (Guzzi Stelvio) to arrive that he bought last week. This evening, I hope we'll be taking it out for a ride and then tonight...self-defense class. Busy day...I need to go to work to relax! Yeah...right.

Boy do I remember that stop off. I was driving out to visit a friend in California and it was 11 p.m in September. I thought I would stop and take a quick nap ( too cheap to rent a motel room for 3 hours of sleep). When I woke up it had snowed 3 / 4 inches and it was about 20*. I didn't have a jacket as it was September and I was going to California for 2 weeks. Old Abe had ice on his beard and I was very close to freezing to death. Now I bring along warm cloths and a wool hat / gloves.

Default First mountain ride on the Spyder

Yesterday I finally got a chance to take the on a real ride. Previously all I was able to do was ride it to work and back. Decided to ride Ortega Highway, a ride in Southern California that is very popular with motorcyclists. All the mountain curves let me start getting used to riding the curves. Looking forward to more rides.

    Default Sunday ride

Rode around the hills s-e of Melbourne, Vic, with a whole lot of trikes. Stood around the pub for a while. Great fun.

    1. Worked out as usual, to start the day.
    2. Went to brother's funeral.
    3. Lunched with gf and two daughters; one daughter is donating part of her liver to her sister, and hopefully soon.
    4. Gf and I went to casino, and started off with a canoli and cheesecake.
    5. Lost a little money.
    6. Back home.
