The person that I spoke to said that he didn't think that they were supposed to be. I can't see any sense in having them dark, so I'm thinking that either I didn't explain it well enough or else he may not be a mechanic.
The third option is that I am merely exercising my right to be wrong.
Any words of sage advice out there?
Thanks!

Why are you taking it in at 600 miles? The first service is due at 3,000.

It's because the ST still uses the 990 motor, and that has a 600 mile first service.

Isn't it weird that in AMERICA our flag and our culture offend so many people......
but our benefits don't?

Pam, he has an ST with the 998 engine, first service is at 600mi. The 1330 engine is in the 14/15 RT's and the F3 with first service at 3000 mi.
Pete, I don't have an ST but I would think they should be lit.

Ah ok, I didn't realize the ST still used the 998. My bad...

I agree....The left hand switch bank on the ST is the same as on the F3 and those buttons are not illuminated.
Respectfully, after riding for a while you'll do it all by muscle memory....and you'll see that it really isn't
necessary for those controls to be lit.

I've decided that I do that, in order to warn everyone about what I'm planning on doing next!
