Xm radio
When I purchased my spider I had the delaer install the Xm radio option. When riding at speed the radio cuts out with no blockage no trees no hills just open space. Took back to the dealer and their response was that the way it works as is its not worth anything a $800 mistake. Does anyone have a fix or service bulletin? Please only helpful responses

Are your riding two-up, when it cuts out?
Depending upon your orientation to the satellites (in the Southern Sky), there are times when a passenger will block a clear shot from them to the antenna...

One trick that I have seen on an RT was the owner moved the XM antenna located in the trunk to the AM/FM Radio antenna and attached it with small black zip ties. This allowed full signal strength in any weather or tree conditions while using XM. He also stated he had the same problem as you do when it is in the trunk. Hope this helps!

XM radio
Your speed has nothing to do with receiving a signal from a satellite. The radio signal is faster than any spyder (unless you are on a black currant one)
so either the signal is being blocked or there is a wiring problem.

When you have a passenger sitting behind you; their shoulders can block the signal, and prevent it from getting picked up by the antenna that's hidden in the trunk. Since the Satellites are in the Southern sky; if you happen to be riding South, the effect of this becomes even more pronounced.
As far as Dee's car: Blocked by tree limbs, or the mountains??

We are talk a middle lane of six lane highway with no trees or hills or passengers on the trike, this not my first xm radio had on on my 2002 Honda goldwing with no problem. This is a spyder problem, will try moving the antenna to the outside of the trunk.

Then the choice of the antenna location, may be the source of the issue.

I have the same issue with XM as well as FM, I just assume a poor design by BRP. Love my bike, just can't stand BRP, that's why I remove all logos from the bike.
One of the hardest decisions you'll ever face in life is choosing whether to walk away or try harder.

Bob, The antenna for the Xm Radio ( car) is in the windshield.
If I am driving near mountains or hills, or if the trees limbs are over the road, the satellites are blocked for a short period of time, ( on the radio display will say " No Satellite Signal) after I get passed the tree limbs or the mountains, hills( there is a lot of here in Vermont) I get the satellite signal back. That's about what I figured...
If the signal is blocked; the magic just isn't going to happen!
