Also they said they would not knowingly sell a car tire for use on a motorcycle. The rear tire size is one that is mostly made for racing. I could understand dealer squeamishness. Though not widely known, Vee Rubber makes tires specific for the Can Am! I ordered a set today, $245.49, free shipping to California from Motorcycle Tire Maniac. I saw some mentions on this blog and have faith it is good. Some what of a leap of faith, but they had a nice video on the MC Tire Maniac site that looked legit. They specialize in bicycle and MC tires as well as small trucks. Time will tell? Any experience out there with these tires?

    Default Vee Rubber

The Motorcycle Tire Maniac list the correct number for the tires. I had seen the previous posts so it was very useful. The correct number is listed as the touring tire. I have a 2014 RT-S SE-6 with 6600 miles on the stock Kendas and they seems to have quite a bit of rubber left. Wondering if I should pay dealer to install or try alternate service?
    Thanks,

Just to clear up info: this is a quote from Kristal

Okay the number VTR 350 refers to ALL ARACHNID TIRES and many websites out there are tricking you….

You have to ASK……what serial number you are buying..Vee Rubber factory is telling me the websites might be selling the old style…the rears have the same sizing…BUT LOOK AT RATING

    #V35001 is original fronts 165/65 R 14 the old front is rated 47 H

#V35002 is original rear 225/50 R15 the old rear is rated 68 H

    The new ones are

#V35003 is the new fronts 165/55 R15 the new front is rated 55H

#V35004 is new rear for the 1330 225/50 R15 the new rear is rated 80 H
So what does that mean in Dog Years? I take it more H's is better?

The original Vee Rubber rear tires were rated only at 68 which is 694 lbs. OK for the RS but the RT's were to have a 76 rating which is 882 lbs and is what the Kenda's are rated. The new Vee's for the RT are even higher-rated as said above, 992 lbs.

I had purchased one of the original Vee's because Vee advertised they were for the higher load of a Spyder. But their literature never mentioned the actual load rating. My dealer got the tire, installed it on my 2011 RT, and then I saw the load rating. The dealer and I both agreed it was not adequate and we took it off. Fine for RS's, not for RT's. Now I have a new one with the higher rating on its way here from Vee Rubber. Will go on my 2014 RT. Vee said these tires have just now become available, as Lamont and others have stated.

My First impression of the new touring tire is very responsive at this point, but then again I just drove around the neighborhood after I got it back together.
Time will tell how long I will get out of the tire..Stock was replaced at 5800 miles..

Put on more miles today and was very happy with the response the spyder had..Cornering was better. Less rode noise from the tire. You can tell its a bit stiffer design tire. Let some of the air out of the rear suspension.. Now time will tell how well it wears..

Next will be getting rid of the front Kendas..Don't like them..

The new Arachnid is great for handling but it doesn't last any longer than a Kenda does. So if you are looking for long tread life you will not get it from the Arachnid. If you are looking for a tire that handles as well as the Kenda then, yes, this will do it.

If I can get more than 5700 miles on the rear then I am headed in the right direction. As for handling just the rear alone made a difference..HOw many miles you put on a year?
Looks like you are on that a lot.. I don't like the kenda tires..Junk IMO..

    Default vee rubber

I have a full set of vee rubber tires on our 2011. Put them on a few months ago, got 5000, miles on so far. they are running great, and show very little ware. I'm very pleased with them so far,and they cost was less then the kendas.
