Hate it
Rode out to Caldwell this morning and at least three times these $%#@ heads tail gated me while going through construction zones and in town. One jack @$$ was so close all I could see in the rear view was his grill.
Oh by the way just love my new F3.

That sucks! But at least they knew you were there. Sometimes I stay in front of a vehicle that I know sees me instead of changing lanes, so the next time I come to a stop, I feel confident the vehicle approaching from behind will not rear end me.

I know someone very well who carried a container of clear marbles on his bike. Serious, annoying tailgaters would get a handful of marbles tossed from over the shoulder into their windshield. That seemed to stop them. (Of course, go like he!! after that.)

Dazzle / Blind Them
Something like this:
http://www.feniex.com/product.php?prod_id=426
Hook it up to your brake lights plus add a switch so you can turn it on separately. Put it in a annoying flashing pattern and be sure it is pointed directly in their eyes.
If that won't make them back off I have found that if I SLOWLY slow down even more and they have no place to go they usually get the message and back off. The closer they get, the slower I go.

I'll tap the pedal JUST enough to light up the back of the bike, but not enough to actually slow me down...
After that happens a few times; they get the message.

The 20mm ammo can saddlebags and Tailgunner exhaust might prevent them from doing it in the first place.

I do the slow down thing and was just venting today as it just annoys the crap out of me. Like the marbles but probably better have a quick escape route! Any more you have to wonder what the other guy is packing.

A penny flipped like a coin discreetly over your shoulder works wonders !

I just turn, or move over and let em' pass. Most don't even realize what they are doing. I'm not into chucking debris at cars and taking responsibility if they crash, get hurt, or hurt someone else.

I dislike the inconsiderate too.
Will NOT let that push me into vandalism. Not a smart suggestion. What if they answer with a gun ?
Too old and smart to do that. Saw a jerk a day, or more, the 25 years I rode around SoCal.

I am in Boise also. My husband and I take Chinden to Mystic Creek just past Hwy16 and then go the back way to Caldwell. So little traffic and great farm land to see.
If you would like to tour around sometime let me know.

That would be great. Have a friend that I ride a lot with but the more the merrier. I was on my out to birds of prey to get my new handle bars when all this happened. I have been on the road you mentioned and it is a very nice road.
Really hot in Boise today

I know its annoying for someone to tailgate.. but I would refrain doing anything to escalate the situation.. there are some nuts out there .... and throwing some thing to hit their vehicle just might be the match that lights the fuse.. best thing is to let them by or turn off and enjoy the ride.. I refuse to let some idiot ruin my day...
