The helmet were approved some British agency with a little label inside. They used to be called "pudding bowls". The Europeans do have very light weight caravans because most of the cars of this era had very small engines. Around that time, you were required to take your trailer and tow vehicle to a check point to get a permit to tow it on the highway.

    WHAT
Nobody would have thought of that back then. I don't think they had helmets for children in the 50's. Even bicycle helmets would not have been used for another 15-20 years. Times were much simpler then.

    Hi Oldmanzues,

Re: I reenlisted in the USAF for the first time in 1959.

I enlisted in the USAF for the 'only' time in 1959. A skinny 19 yr old; oh, to be that thin once again.

    Cool

The scooter is a 1958 Lambretta LI 150. Used to use a 25:1 ratio fuel to oil which was added by hand when filling
with gas. They all smoked! I used to add a tablespoonful of Castrol 'R' to the mix just for the old fashioned
racing oil smell! But then again I did have a Lambretta GT 200!! 70mph from stock...maybe 85 with lots of mods!

It has been a very long time, since I was as slim as I was that day when I enlisted. I went on to a 28 year career in USAF. the retirement pay and medical stuff is very good. Stay nowadays ????????????

There's nothing quite as nice as the smell of castor bean oil; burning in the morning!
