Made good mileage today
I wrote this yesterday and forgot to post...so here is yesterday:
ood Morning All:
Not much to report. In past years after the Spyderfest Event in Springfield, MO I usually start off checking out a portion of the US and/or Canada that I want to explore or re-explore...but this year I am "adventuring" differently. My main travel will be when I depart Chelan on 6/29 heading for a month or so going North to Alaska on Spyder.
Yesterday I left Springfield, MO at around 6:30 a.m. heading back home. Because I like to avoid interstates (back roads much more interesting)..I started N on MO65 (avoid Kansas City , which can be a major MeSS). But then because I want to get home as quickly as possible I got on I-29 N and when I leave Sioux City SD (and a note here right across road is Sioux City, Iowa!!) in about an hour I will be headed W on I-90.
Weather yesterday was tough ryding. Heavy rain..even with the new Rain X product that can be used on plastic..it was still an exhausting time. I was on road 11 hrs and 9 of that was in heavy rain. Because of the interstate and the truck traffic it is like being in double heavy rain. The Spyder travels great in the rain..for me it's the vision through all the rain. I really do believe someone needs to invent wipers for motorcyclists.
As a budget traveler I stopped at Motel 8...the owner was awesome...I must have looked like something the cat had dragged in...she offered about 5 times to carry my stuff to my room...I walked into room with a full length mirror on wall. And then I saw what she had seen: This mud spattered creature with helmet hair and a neck scarf half on/half off. Heck after shower I went back and said that must have been scary....she just laughed...
OK time to apply more rain x to Spyder and helmet shield...cause I just checked weather radar and yep looks like another day of rain.
Would love to be home on Thursday...not sure that will happen. I won't take undo risk to make that occur.
What time is it? COFFEE TIME...gotta grind those beans and AeroPress that java.
Have a great day folks,
Karyl
Now today. Wow 600+ miles...amazing the difference sunshine makes...started out raining in Sioux City, SC...but in 1/2 hour stopped...when I was 1/2 way across SD blue sky appeared. And stayed with me all the way to Sheridan, WY. Yep I definitely prefer ryding in the sun..heck 600 miles and I still got energy!!! At this rate easy peasy to be home Thursday early enough to get road grime off Studley and spiff up for the PG Escort on Friday. OK I need laundry time. High class Motel 6: laundry, indoor pool and elevator!!! Later..take care
My Motto Is:
Live my life in such a way that when my feet hit the floor in the morning...Satan shudders & says "Oh, crap, SHE'S awake!"
