I don't ever remember that being mentioned. That would have been crappy to make the trip with the drags being one of the events looking forward to.....
No, We did not know we'd be doing the drags in a back parking lot.
Like Mike stated, it was more like street racing.
On Jan 17th, in a post by Joanie, on the Spyderfest schedule, it showed Drag Racing at the Fairgrounds, and I asked:

This could be interesting, Fairgrounds would be more suited to circle track.
I never heard the real reason why it wasn't held at the regular drag strip, but that was really up to the committee, but I sure wish it could be next yr. It was still fun, but.......
....and we're gonna ride, we're gonna ride.....
ride like the one-eyed Jack of Diamonds, with

Tire pressure
Blue knight, after hula dancing down the run 4 times I dropped the pressure a good amount. It was still breaking and spinning, but not as bad. I didn't scare Butch nearly as bad as the first couple of tests.

Drags aren't always about lights and numbers. Sometimes it's a wink of an eye between riders at a stop light. Only they know who won or lost.
This year's Spyderfest drags had officials at the end of the drag determining who won, and at the front line, who jumped the gun.
In each class, GS/RS, RT, ST, F3, two Spyders would race against each other, best two out of three. If it was a tie to the judges, the two raced again, a tie didn't count.
Each winner of the best two of three would race each other till it was down to the fastest two. Final best two of three ran at the end of the drags.
It was old school, except for the test and tune.

If you don't slow down, they can't catch you..
If you don't give up, they can't win.
What a long strange journey its been.

Its the distance, not the lack of a track or lights. 180 yards isn't even an 1/8th mile run. Heck, 1/8th mile is even on the short side.

Give it a flipping rest. We all know you are not satisfied with the set up even though you weren't within 800 miles of the event. Actually I am quite happy you weren't there with your attitude.

...." WHAT TEST AND TUNE "....my First test and tune was .....My first race ..............I guess I missed the NON-ANNOUNCEMENT about showing up before the event was to start ........" TO TEST AND TUNE "............Oh and here is something else ....at this year's Drag's there were 75 % LESS participants and it didn't appear to be as many spectators either.

about 143%
But we were all HOPING for something quantifiable...
And the even larger question wasn't addressed: the GS/RS, versus the F-3...

Wow,what a charmer you are. [emoji106] you need to relax more. Thicker skin.
Yes, I would have been pissed if I made the trip and that was the setup.
The drags were all hyped up in a few threads. Guess some of us expected more. We considered going but everyone knows I don't play nice [emoji23] ... What a waste of time that would have been..I would have been stuck sitting in someone's garage watching movies with you!!.[emoji87]

I to wanted the answer to GS V F3. I also was kinda disappointed with the short track however I do understand the reasons. I will say I had a blast and made several runs even though I was beat in the 2nd round in the actual races by the eventual winner of the RS class. During practice I was able to defeat several Spyders to include one F3 twice. After the Races Spyderpops beat me twice (in very close races) with his F3. I do think the GS/RS has a little advantage off the line but I suspect in a full 1/4 the F3 would win because of torque above 80MPH. I say this because my time slips from previous years I was able to hit 80MPH in the 1/8 and only 98-100 MPH in the 1/4.
