37 years as an Independent Insurance Agent...
I just got off of the Social (In) Security website...
If I were fortunate enough to become disabled today; I'd receive a larger benefit check, than if I waited until age 67 to retire!

But on the Bright Side: If I work until the age of 70; it's worth almost $600 bucks more per Month...

My wife and I are retiring in 8 years. We will be 55 at that time and are going to enjoy our retirement. Possibly move to Central or South America where there is no snow and our dollar gets the best bang or do the snowbird thing. 6 months in Canada and 6 months in Central/South America. I plan on staying busy but I will be glad to do something different.

37 Years in IT Data Centers and other High Tech Ventures. Don't know if I have 8 more years in me, but having too much fun not to try. It does put a damper on Spyder Ryding. Just 2400 Miles in over 3 years.

    Default Jealous

Hang in there, Retirement comes before you know it. Don't retire just to sit on the couch and drink beer, had too many peers do that and die in a year or two. Enjoy your retirement doing what you want. I had two more careers after I retired and the beauty part is I could leave if it got boring or drudgery.

    Default Non-Retirees

Half of us is retired , my wife was smarter than I and had a "real job" with our local school distric administation office as a assistant to the Deputy superintendent for 34 years and pulled the plug last year and she is enjoying the heck out of her retirment as she has put over 16k on her RT since August . I on the other hand have worked construction for the last 40 years the last 25 as a traveling superintendent . I have been to every state except Rode Island and Conneticut and work in 38 of them , might retire in 3 more years as I still enjoy what I do but its not as fun as it used to be.
She travels with me now and we ride on the weekends , spent 16 weeks in Wyoming last summer and had great riding so it is kind of like a working vacation just the work gets in the way sometimes.

    Hi bscrive

Re: 6 months in Canada and 6 months in Central/South America.

Last year I was down in Yuma, AZ visiting my snowbird brother and his wife. Saw a guy in a restaurant with a t-shirt that said, "Yuma, Arizona Canada's Most Southern City."

Wouldn't be fun...parts for locomotive motor/generator/alternator repair and large power generation repair! Would be better if it were automotive or bike related
