Flashing engine light..
I've been riding for the past couple of days...beautiful weather isn't it? And yesterday after a trip I came back, shut down and since my granddaughter wanted to ride, started up again only to have a flashing engine warning light come on...no change in the way the engine is running, no overheating, no difference. I shut down and checked the oil, etc., started up again and still flashing! I've got to get it up to the dealer and having no trailer, I guess it's either drive it up slowly or call the dealer to come pick it up. It's kind of frustrating to find nothing wrong that looks potentially damaging and yet I can't find a problem. Any suggestions?

Quick question....
when you shut her down did you remove the key and walk away with it..? I have had this happen several time and there are many reasons for that light but it clears after the key walk. Usually you get a code and or scrolling message if none are present it could just be a glitch.

Flashing engine light
Thanks guys...yeah, walked away with the key overnight..same results. No, I'm not experienced enough to pull the codes. So seeing nothing askew as far as coolant or oil, think it's safe to limp up to my dealer that is about 5 miles away?

Happens on my 2012 RTS often. BUDS shows the fact that it comes on but the dealer has never been able to find the cause. Happened one time and I rode it 50 miles home just to see what it would do. Nothing. Rode it next day and no Orange Light of Death.

If you have any active codes, you should be able to pull them up like this.

I had the engine light come on during a vacation run. Rode the bike to a station for better lighting. About 100 yards the light went away. So whenever it showed up again, I didn't worry.

First, thanks for all the help in diagnosing my light.
So, rode to the dealer this morning and low and behold, the light went out after a mile of so..but, took it in anyway. They found a malfunction in the purge value going out of #2 and into the collection canister. Since this is an emissions issue, the warranty is for 18000 miles and 5 years. I'm past 5 years but only have 9900 miles so they are going to call and see if BRP will cover it.
