SW Florida/ Fort Myers Ride!!

West Coast Motorsports in Fort Myers is having Spyder Owner Apperciation Day on Saturday Dec. 6th. Whether you bought it from them, or not you all are invited. We will be having a ride, free food and soda. I'm sure there will be other events as well. So, come out and enjoy a ride with all of your Spyder friends.

Time: Meet 10:30, Ride starts at 11-11:30. Route is not determined yet, but I'm thinking a ride to the beach, and around to Bonita Beach road, and back. Nice scenic route, and a route that a lot of people will stare at you to get that "Rockstar" feel.

I would personally like to thank everybody that came. If it wasn't for you,(and me) we wouldn't had anybody. I don't know what happened, but the "out of towners" were the only ones that showed up. Seems like everybody was there, was from Spyderlovers. It was nice to meet you all! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the ride, and the "unique culture" that makes us,....us.

Well it will be most interesting as to what all think of this story.

On Dec 5, about 11:00 PM I receivied a call and was informed that the Ft Myers Spyder gathering has reached approx 500 spyders, all over the state, GA, and AL. Seemed high to me but what the heck I am a bit slow, especially at 11:00 PM..
this party stated that there was music, breakfast, lunch drinks, police escort etc for a rally of that size I believed.
I asked the calling party for the address and telephone number and it, the address, confirmed with the invatation. However, the phone number was not given in the invitation but, it is correct 239-275-5535. Called it and got their answer machine. So I guess it is a valid call that I received at 11:00 PM.

So, I put on my biker clothes, the Morning of the 6th of december, got a late start as I overslelpt, and headed to Ft Myers, arriving approx 11:45 am. Upon my arrival I asked where the spyders were and was told they had already left for a run and would return 12:30 ..1:00 Pm.

I then waited and guess WHAT......???????
Three spyders, one of which was an emplyee, golly, had I got there on time I would have made Four.

Party, music, food... bah hum bug.. they put on a hamburger hotdog fry almost every Sat as told to me by an employee and It was not a sponsored, or approved gathering by BRP.

I was asked would I attend more functions? Can you guess my answer??

One thing, I did have a good ride, going to Ft Myers, as I took what they call the shortest route, but not neccessarly the fastest, but good road just the same, only problem many stop signs and restrictive speed limits of 35, 45, 55, and 60.. well 55 and 60 weren't too bad and where it was posted of 65 that was also good as the traffic did move within 10 miles of the speed limit excepting the ones less than 50.

All you spyder peeps have a grand Xmas and safe rides.
Pardon the grammer and spelling errors as I am brain dead at this time of moring after a good long ride.

I'd be pointing the finger at whoever gave you that phone call. I would have been there, but December is usually the craziest month of the year for me. There's some sort of tor run or x-mas charity that I end up doing every weekend not to mention overtime at work because everyone wants to finish up all their medical appointments before their co-pay resets in January.

But at least there is a dealership who's trying to get us all together.

Forrest, you should have called me. I could have given you a really nice route to ride down to Ft. Myers. Very few stops sign and very little traffic.

Thanks for your reply, I challenged the peeps and no one, at the dealer, would accept the responsibility for the call. It is really wild that someone other than the dealer made the call, but things do occur.
Messed up not calling you for the route.. The route I took was US27, 17, 95 into Ft Myers. All routed by my old Garmin C330. When I got to the off ramp of 95 in Ft Myers, my GPS went nuts. Finally had to completely reset it and then it took me to the dealer, soon after the battery went poof..
Sorry that I missed you. I met a young couple, Ray and his girl friend, we had a hamburger, laughed, and then they led me out of Ft Myers on their way home.. super nice of them. And then called me later that night to see if I made it ok.... WOW, what a grand gesture.

Thanks for coming. That's pretty crazy that someone called you and told you that. Sorry, wasn't me. I can find out though. My GM was pretty happy with me, and pissed about the sales staff. If it wasn't for me, nobody would have showed up. That would've been pretty spectacular if that many people showed up.

Hopefully you all try this again. December is just too busy of a month to get good turn outs.

I hope your dealerships custom Spyder makes it to Cape Coral bike night next weekend. I'll check it out there.
