dragging to the left

I have a 2011 RSS if I let go of the handle bars at say 35 the bike drifts to the left. In light of the fact that roads are crowned for rain run off it should drift to the right or stay in the lane.

Suggestions? I'm probably going to get a lazer alignment at Spyderfest, but anything now?

check to make sure your the same both sides

otherwise the alignment and your going to have it done. You could check for loose parts, lug nuts, ball joints etc.

Yep.. I would check, the air pressure and then definitely get the laser alignment.

Like the BajaRon sway bar, the laser alignment should be a necessity for all Spyders.

Could have a bad tire, you could switch them side to side just to see if it pulls the other way. Then switch them back, they are directional.

if the tires are fine air pressure fine check the link ends underneath where the sway bar connect might have a broken one
also check for front to back movement in the right side assembly to check bushings I had a bushing fail and started experiencing a fore aft shift on my right side on braking

had to replace he plastic bushing sleeves

tighten your front shocks to the 5 position. Make sure your front tires have the same air pressure, I run mine at 18. That should help. Better shocks would help. I did not find much difference after alignment on the RS. You can always do the swaybar. I did the shocks first and found that fixed a lot of the wondering.

Been under there a lot and didn't notice anything. Will try switching tires, can't hurt. Will look at brakes too. Tires do not look worn on edges or in middle. Shocks are on 5.

Did you hit something, maybe a pothole or some dead animal in the road ?

It's not unusual for the alignment to be off, even directly from the factory, but then it would be off from the get go and the symptoms would increase with mileage, but you'd see that in the tires.

Sounds like you've got all the low hanging fruit looked at.

It could be the steering position sensor is not calibrated properly, but that gets reset when you have the alignment done.

Be careful switching tires side to side unless your going to dismount them. The front tires are directional. If they are on backwards, they will actually pull water under the wheel instead of displacing it.

I just bought the bike, and only have 300-400miles from me. I just happened to notice it. I imagine that when I get it aligned at SF, they will find if there is a problem.

There is a procedure, but it's pretty tedious so they don't do it by choice.
The frunk needs to be removed.
The front tires as well.
They then lock the steering in place with some jig.
Next they clamp on large metal straight edges and take measurements and make any needed adjustments.
After that they reassemble everything and charge you several hours labor.

The point is, this procedure aligns the wheels to the frame.
There is a separate alignment for the rear wheel, also aligning to the frame.
If the frame is itself out of alignment, the wheels may not be aligned with each other.

The laser alignment aligns all three wheels to each other for a complete alignment.
The equipment involved is costly, but dealers are starting to get on board with the procedure.
