installed these saddlebags on my f3s. cost me 120.00 for saddlebags, 30.00 in hardware. i removed the passenger hand rails because i like the flow better and i don't ride a passenger. I've included pics for the mounting plate, to saddlebags mounted on spyder, love these bags !!!
I added the Nelson riggs 1040 CL tail bag $100 and the Nelson Riggs CL 955 saddlebags $120 with no mods to the bike and for lots of extra storage. I will still have passenger sometimes so wanted to keep the hand rails. My friends say I now have an F3/RT... I like what you did and clearly there are reasonable priced storage options to make the F3 more than just a local hot rod..

add a pic if you can. I'm curious on that tail bag..
BikeDoc,
can you show photos of your F3 with the Nelson Rig bags, too. I would like to see it.
Arizona Sypder yours look great, but I need the handles for the passenger.

They do look good but are they any bigger than the BRP saddlebags? I would be interested in something larger than theirs, maybe a set of hard lockable saddlebags or a set of rigid reinforced leather saddlebags that might be lockable. I wouldn't want saggy bags that don't hold their shape. Yours look nice but will they stay in their original shape?

yes, if you look how they mount the brp cross country saddle bags they are much lower, so there bags are quite a bit smaller, i could not do that with these bags as they are larger and would hit exhaust etc., and had to be mounted higher. no, they are not lockable but I'm sure i can find something to lock them if needed. they are reinforced on the sides and on the bottom to hold there shape.
how are you attaching the bags to the backer plate?
mark
you get everything lined up and drilled on your brackets and backing plate, then take backing plate and center it on the back of the saddlebag, drill into saddlebag, attach with hardware, worked very well for me. the old saying, measure 10 times, drill once, very true with this project.. ha ha
