How do you secure your helmet when parked?

Has anyone come up with another way of securing helmets besides placing them in the frunk or the cable lock through the passenger grab rails?

I use a cable through the grips. Setting the helmets on the seat also discourages onlookers from violating the Spyder while parked, IMO.

I simply place mine on the rear seat between trunk and backrest. No locks no tie downs. Never had a problem for 60+ years but then again if I do it is an excuse to buy a new one. Yes I ride with an expensive helmet. (Arai)

On my Harley or Goldwing I just hung it on handlebars or left on the seat and never had any problems with them being bothered. Found the special locks etc. a nuisance. Real new to Spyder but doubt there will be any problem there either. If so will make adjustments as needed.

One thing I've observed in nearly 3 years of having a spyder: people that would not think of touching anything Harley/other 2 wheels, somehow think it's ok to make themselves at home on a spyder.

our vendor/sponsors have several. I have seen the bar end locks, license plate lock, under the seat clips (not great on the panels) and the cable locks. most bike shops sell simple helmet locks that you can attach wherever you find the space. I am not happy hanging my helmet upsidedown (birds happen etc).

One thing I've observed in nearly 3 years of having a spyder: people that would not think of touching anything Harley/other 2 wheels, somehow think it's ok to make themselves at home on a spyder.

Have to do a little discouragement in that area I guess.

I've not experienced that, but I do see several others here reporting that problem. Wonder why that is.

We have used the Helmet Guardian locks on both of our Spyder RT Limited's. The BRP design has a lot to be desired! We have Nolan helmets and utilize the helmet "T" extension when using the Helmet Guardian locks. Just need to be a little careful when hanging the helmet on the exhaust side so it doesn't touch the exhaust!

Also, we use the travel cover and place helmets on seat when raining - works well...nobody knows they're there and never had a problem.

I put my Nolan N-104 in the frunk on day trips - when touring and the frunk is full, I use a "T-Lock" and a cable lock to connect it to the backrest . . . only takes a minute of my time and is worth it to me.

My husband tells a funny story about a time that he took my RT over Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park to Grand Lake one day while I was at work. He stopped at the visitor's center near the top for a nature break. The motorcycle parking spaces are near the visitor center/bathrooms/souvenir shop/cafe. I guess he had just gotten off and was putting stuff away to run to the bathroom when a tour bus full of foreign tourists pulled up the lane next to the motorcycle parking and opened its doors to let them off. They all got off and lined up to try and sit on the Spyder like it was part of the tour. He had a hard time explaining to them that it was his wife's and she barely let him ride it, so no, they can't sit on it. He ended up having to leave and find a different nature stop.

I added Kuryakyn ISO handlebar grips and Kuryakyn helmet locks to the ends.

If you do not want to add grips, there is a vendor here that sells helmet locks for the stock handlebar grips.

I have a full face ( ZOX) helmet it goes in the frunk/ or in the saddle bag when I go for long day trips, and when I am at work, and doing errands. No Problems

When I can I do park my spyder where it is visible or near other motorcycles. Deanna

It depends where we are if we lock or not , at $600 bucks a pop I just don't feel smart leaving it just laying on the seat in a parking lot in LA , but up on a scenic lookout in the Rockies is a different story , when I do lock I use a cable through the back hand grips .

I learned last year at SpyderFest how foolish it was for me to leave mine on the saddle at the host motel. I found myself parked until Pitbull brought me a loaner. I wear a 3XL (& larger), so the 2XL loaner would hardly go on, but I managed until I found something I could wear to get me back home to Georgia. I then ordered a 4XL replacement plus another J&M headset & cord. $500 later I was set.

No longer will I leave my helmet out for someone to take, nor will I boast about it either.

I am also in the camp where I do not use any type of helmet lock. It does depend where and when, as to whether or not I leave it on the seat or put it out of sight in the frunk or saddle bags.

I would not leave my helmet out when going into the big towns, Anchorage, Fairanks, Wasilla. Other places, the bike is usually visible from where I am--just in case.

We have Nolan's with communicators attached, so the helmets would be a good haul if they were to get snarffed.

I have a pair of Lidlox and they work well. If I'm alone, I can put my modular helmet in the frunk (it won't fit in any other compartment). When my wife is with me - also a modular helmet - and/or there is luggage, we need more. The Lidlox are quick, easy and cool pieces of engineering.
